Field Trip

Feb 15, 2010 20:27

So today I drove out to the reservoir in hopes of getting some photos and poking around a bit. There's a cemetery right by there as well (well, there's a bunch, actually, this is New England after all, but I was aiming for one in particular) that I was hoping to find and check out.

It was a beautiful day, low forties and sunny with bright blue skies and not much wind, and I had the tunes cranked and was finishing up lunch as I drove. A very promising start to the adventure.

I found the cemetery with no problems and walked around for about a half hour or so. I took a couple of photos, noted some interesting names, and enjoyed the peace and quiet. Then I drove back towards the reservoir. I was pretty disappointed that there wasn't really anywhere to pull over and snap some photos. There were so many interesting things that I wanted to stop and look at. I tried to take some shots as I drove but mostly ended up getting pics of my passengers seats or the frame. Gah. I saw all sorts of interesting things that I wanted to stop and check out, but it was all marked off "No Trespassing" in huge yellow signs, and there were folks from the water authority out driving around and I didn't want to end up in jail on such a beautiful day. I saw a couple of people on bikes zipping across the bridges and down the roads I was on, so maybe when the weather's nicer I'll borrow M's bike and head back. There was just nowhere to pull over with a car and nowhere really to go even if I could have done so - very frustrating. Maybe when M is feeling better (she still has the bubonic plague) she will be willing to drive so I can lean out the window and try to get some pictures that way.

Not much else going on. I'm back to work tomorrow (today was President's Day so no work) and hopefully I'll get some more words written before bed.
