Things have been happening. Good or bad? Let's decide!
Win: I had my first ever commission for badges from someone I didn't already know! Yay, Brisbane Effect! Yay nice friends to pimp my skillz!
Lose: Due to GIMP not wanting to open PSD files, I had two hours in which to learn how to use Photoshop well enough to flatten, resize and print. I more-or-less figured it out, although I had to print each design on its own sheet of paper because I couldn't copy/paste to an A4-sized sheet without the design suddenly being cute but useless teeny-sized.
Verdict: Win. Still need to learn more Photoshop.
Win: Client wants five designs done in all three badge sizes! Money!
Lose: It turns out the the large die set isn't stamping correctly and I spent what could have been a nice night with company alternating between big-eye sad and crazy-eye frustrated. With the help of The Dude, a jury-riggin' solution has been found.
Verdict: Lose. Must now get machine repaired, and as a bonus have found out that one of my huuuge and very very heavy paper cutters is the wrong size and will have to be shipped to Tassie to replace. This will prolly take all my profits from this job.
Win: Invited to two different Halloween parties!
Lose: No costume organised yet.
Verdict: Win. It's one of the more charming things about my life that I have plenty of costumes up my sleeve, or to be more literal, lurking at the back of the cupboard.
Win: Am now very good Level 1 tech and am gaining lots of XP to go up to next level.
Lose: People only call when there are problems. Problems make people angry. Angry people all day makes me sad, even if I do have the skills to make most of the callers laugh.
Verdict: Lose. I'm doing all the Level 2 modules, but not because I expect I'll be here in six months... I'm just milking as hard as I can before I let go of the teat. JB Hifi is hiring... I would love to spend all day recommending movies to anxious mothers!
Updated verdict: Today was actually a good day. Free sammiches, gaps between calls, hilarious wordy byplay... inertia wins! I shall not quit.
