Prints

I'd appreciate if everyone read this. Even telling other people about this entry would help me a great deal. It won't cost you anything money-wise, and I would be immensely grateful.

NOTE: The point of this entry is not to force people to buy prints in a pity party. I am not trying to garner people's sympathy or commiseration. I am not trying to sound over-bearing or arrogant by thinking people will actually spend lots of money and help me. But the truth is I need help and I am running out of resources. I actually hate doing this, because I don't think my art is at the point where it is worth buying but I am not going to just sit here and take people's money without giving something in return. Unfortunately, prints of my art are all I have to offer.

So it's come down to the point that I'm so desperate to earn money that I'll have to go dirt-digging for it. However, even dirt digging isn't enough, so I've decided to try and sell prints. My artwork is utter crap and really in no condition for pro print making, but I'm desperate. Prints aren't going to make big bucks I know, especially because I can't charge alot given that crappy quality of the artwork, but I have no other choice. It's too late to take commissions and I would probably overprice them anyway.

My Situation:

(My rambles. You can skip this if you want, but this is where (possibly) your money is going.)

I don't have a job--I wasn't allowed to get one in the summer even for the month I wasn't in school, no was I allowed one during the school year. Now my parents aren't going to give me the money for university. At first they said they would, but now that it's time for me to actually make the payment, they've decided to give less than half of what they promised in the first place. I don't know where I'm supposed to go and find money, then since it seems all options have run out. I cannot apply for bursaries until I'm actually in the university. I have already received a scholarship amount for this year but since my grades are so low, it's not enough. I have already borrowed money through student loan services, but I refuse to borrow anymore. If the loan service gives out the amount in the estimate, then they will be paying almost my entire tuition. I cannot pay back a debt that big. And this is only the first year. If I keep borrowing money, my life is going to be spent paying back student loans. I've heard stories from other people who have had to spend years after they finished graduating just to pay back what they owe. I do not want to get into that kind of situation, which is why I am going to stop the borrowing and I am determined to find a job as soon as I set foot on campus.

Prints

Prints are $5.00 each.
They will be printed on 8.5 x 11 photo glossy paper.

That seems like a lot to pay, but it includes shipping and handling and postage costs a lot, now. I won't actually be making much profit from this, but I have to try anyway. I don't expect people would buy more than one if they choose to buy at all so I think that's a fair enough price. If people buy more than one, I can a negotiate price drop after the first print.

As for payment method, money order is best. However, I trust my LJ friends, cash in a protected envelope is acceptable. Unfortunately I don't have Paypal because I don't have a bank account. I was supposed to go set one up for university a couple weeks ago but my mom cancelled the appointment. Now there is no time to set one up before classes start.

Some of my other work is available for printing as well, but these ones would print the best in terms of dimension and resolution.

I will try to see if I can use any printing facilities at my university to ensure top quality printing. I will be moving in the first week of September, so that will be the earliest I can print if you want to wait for it. I can't guarantee I'll be able to use their printers since I'm not studying in the art faculty.

If you want further information or want to purchase, send an e-mail to catclawford at gmail.com with the subject "Prints".

Again, I know prints aren't going to make me much money, but it could help me pay for the small fees that I will surely encounter sometime in university life.

Thank you for your time in reading this entry.
