Make It Happen

This year has been crappy. Both financially and physically. It's like a series of tests, from one worry to a bigger one. Honestly, I thought it was just my 3 wisdom tooth removal that'll be the only life changing (yes, you read that right) this year which was in January. But then there's my car repairs that cost me about a grand in February followed by another high car repair bill along with a fight with Hiroshi in March. That made me forget about the holes from my wisdom tooth. Then again, if the car bills didn't do the trick both first (April) and second (May) surgery topped the two. I have practically forgotten about my wisdom tooth. Once my surgeries are finally over, Hiroshi lost his job in June. *siiiiiigh*

However, the year is not over and there are some good things on the way. If they don't come, then I'll make them come. On July when I was starting to feel slightly better, I met up with a friend who I haven't seen in a long time. It was suppose to be for lunch only but we ended up hanging out much longer. We went shopping and man, she's the best person to go shopping with. We also caught up on a lot of things as well. It was nice seeing her again.

Then there was my trip in Yosemite in August. I've never been there and since it's affordable, Hiroshi and I went there on a weekend. I actually took Thursday and Friday off so we can find good campground. Lucky for us the firefighters managed to take out the fire the week before our trip. Omg, it literally took my breath away. It was so beautiful! The hiking trails were crazy since we were in high elevations but the view was amazing. It was freezing at night but the hotdog chili dinner were perfect. Plus we mastered on cooking the sweet potato on the fire pit. Very relaxing to be out in nature. (I'm gonna write more about this trip later)

Then there's the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival in Las Vegas (woo! hop!) in October. Since it's on a weekend, I can pretty much take one day off of my little vacation left. There was a bit of drama but I didn't care. I'm going no matter what. And if I get bored at the Fan Festival, then there's VEGAS to fall to 8D

Aside from buying tickets for FFXIV event, there was something more special in September: It was my first time in boot camp. I found a great boot camp deal a month before in Amazon Local and at first I wanted to jump the gun but there were some things I had to consider. My main concern was my commitment. I know myself well enough that I always get excited at the beginning and then get bored with it. It doesn't help that since it's only $39 for six weeks and I wouldn't feel so bad should I waste my money. But then again, there's the Final Fantasy Fan Festival that I'm going to in October and my inner vanity would definitely want me in a decent shape. That and the sessions are only 30 minutes long, so why not? So I signed up for September.

My very first day killed me. First of all, its was 5:30AM and I had to use three alarm clocks to get me going. Second, I didn't jog the week before thinking I might as well take a vacation... sometimes I really want to punch myself. My legs were fine but my arms and core weren't so happy. Second day I took it a little easy and the trainer told me to read through the beginner's pamphlet. It advised to only put in 70% on the first couple of sessions and at least take the second day off. Third day I couldn't move my upper body at all and I had to miss that day's session. I had to take a long hot bath and used my massager to ease up my aching arms. It was so bad that I couldn't pull my shirt over my head when I got dressed.

The following week was much better. My plan was to go 5 out of 6 sessions per week and since I missed Tuesday, I went on a Saturday... Little did I know Saturday was known for Sweaty Saturday >XO I totally got my butt whooped!

Alas third week of September came and I practically fell in love with the class. It wasn't about looking good for the Fan Festival anymore. I was starting to feel good about myself. I was eating healthier and my body really feels a whole lot different compared to back in June. Aside from feeling younger, the sessions are also perfect for either letting my frustrations out or just having fun.

Yesterday I met with my trainer for a Welcome Consultation. We explained to me the reasoning behind the short sessions and asked if I have any questions. I've asked a couple of questions and finally got my biggest one: How much is it to be a member? Surprisingly, the subscriptions were really affordable to the point my jaw literally dropped. I absolutely signed up for a year on the spot before my trainer could even offer an additional mark down if I signed up on that day.

Happy Class + Happy Price = Happy Sonia

Man, I'm so happy for being part of boot camp. I haven't really made any friends but it's definitely worth going to. And to have an affordable year subscription is unbelievable!

Lastly in November, my sister will be having a baby shower and she wanted me and Pauline to host it. The funny part is how we decided to rent the clubhouse at Hiroshi's place. So it's like he's the one who's throwing a baby shower XD We got the place, food, and decorations down. I'm looking forward to that party!

So in the end, this year may not be as crappy as I thought it would be. It definitely has its ups and downs (or more like downs and ups) but what I learned this year is that you don't have to wait for something good to happen, you take the opportunity and make it happen :)
