Oh the madness that does ensue...

Yesterday, I bribe Mac with the offer of Nando's for dinner if she comes with me to collect the last few things from my gran's house. One of which is my goldfish because I couldn't get him home safely by myself in the car.

I get to Mac and gift a Fraggle Rock banner to the House of Martha.
Mac and I head to my gran's.

I pull into the carport. The post that I have missed every other single time I have pulled into the carport, I swap paint with it this time. My poor baby Getz, not even a year old and running into posts. Hopefully it's just paint and it will polish off and there's not any panel damage. We'll have to wait and see.

We collect up belongings in the house with my gran hovering over me with a list she'd written of things we had left behind. Lastly we go to get the fish.

"Oh No" says Ley.
"Is that fish dead?" says Mac.
We stare at the poor twisted form of my goldfish Jimmy resting limply at the bottom of his residence.
And then we burst out laughing. How funny! I bribe someone to come collect this fish with me, and he's dead when I arrive. I tipped him out in the back of the garden.
"Ah, do I still get Nandos?" asks Mac. "Yes you still get Nandos".

So to my goldfish, James Pond, aka Jimmy, I bid you farewell.
You lasted from my 18th birthday until almost my 22nd birthday. 4 years is a good run for a goldfish that was neglected as much as you were. 4 years is a good run for a goldfish anyway. I will always remember your excitement when I put you back in your bowl after I cleaned it. You wiggled and flipped about so much you splashed water to the other side of the room. I remember the times you appeared to be growing mould on your little fishy body, but still you survived. I probably won't miss you, but I will remember your resilience fondly.

Note to anyone reading this:
I do not need another fish.
I do not love and care for them in the way that one really should.
