PGSM was really late on giving their characterizations to the Dark Kingdom members. This is kind of sad since they're really developed so well once the writers finally get to them. I guess they wanted to introduce the girls and get viewers familiar with them first?
Alright, every time I watch this, I change my mind about Rei. The scene in Act 6: She mentions liking boys is a waste of time. Usagi is of course horrified about the idea of not liking boys. Rei immediately really does seem almost half-disgusted by the idea before saying "Didn't I say I was that type?" I wondered if she was possibly referring to being an open lesbian, then I was more or less convinced she could likely have meant simply that she planned to stay as a miko and chaste, but the tone of her 'no' somehow kicks me back to thinking she really does just prefer girls. Usagi's reaction doesn't help, either, because she just sort of accepts it, which seems unlikely for either answer - Usagi isn't likely to be quiet about someone never planning on having a romance, and in anime she gets really hyper about 'not giving up on boys' when they think Mako likes Haruka.
I know it makes for dramatic tension, but so much would have been easier if Minako had said everything from the start. She seems to know the whole story of the past and who's who as early as Act 7, since she's warning Usagi away from Tuxedo Kamen as 'dangerous'. If she had said everything, it might have cut things off from the start, instead of so much later when they were already in love.
Also, I love the teletia-S more and more. I never noticed it seems to really change their appearance if need be - Ami actually directly 'takes on Rei-chan's shape' and the company president who had met Rei doesn't notice the (huge) difference. I wonder if this is how Makoto snuck Rei out of the hotel, too? Did she really look exactly like the actual room service worker to everyone else?
