(Sidenote: My body is angry at me. I don't know why. So I'm kind of in a bad mood right now).
As everyone knows I love 24 fic. I even adore it. However, I've noticed yet another disturbing trend in 24 fic that

Going to try and meld these into one comment:
I think it could and the angle I was looking at is her ease with lying. Something I read about certain abusive family types said that lying/leading a double life (of sorts) can become natural for those in the family.
Oooh. That's very interesting. I heard that's partly true because the abused person has to pretend so much that it's not happening to others. Don't be nervous! I've seen Nina in fic as everything from evil personified to misunderstood love struck girl. I didn't start watching til early s2 so I saw s1 knowing what she became and somehow that made me love her even more (I don't know why). I could also see sociopath, lack of deep feelings, desire to hurt, killing without regret.(although that's debatable).
I'm fascinated - tell me more.
re: The way Chase interacts with Jack. Well, Jack knocked him out, tied him up, put him in a cell and Chase STILL felt the need to go rescue him. He doesn't really fight him on issues, pretty much does what he says and still seeks his approval. When he went in to talk to him about the baby he was meek and almost afraid of his reaction. Good point that his sister's in LA and yet they both seem to be from DC (going on the official site bios as canon). Oh! And quick temper? Look at how quickly Chase started choking Ramon in the first ep.
I think Wayne would be a bit more problematic - maybe getting into to trouble being more headstrong and emotional an all. And David to bail him out. Overall, being David Palmer's little brother would shield him from a lot of craziness in his neighborhood.
Palmer was a star but the fact that Wayne was so willing to take responsibility for the Julia thing makes me think that David didn't bail him out very often, if at all. Out of the two, Wayne strikes me as the less emotional one. I could however see him as like the bookish nerd type pretty easily. David/Sherry *SO* messed up OTP.
Morgan Freeman? That would have been so cool. Ah, spoilers that never pan out are so disappointing. Poor Michelle, one line in an episode and she's the world's worst cook, lol.
Thanks but I'm starting to think I was more crazy than brave. I still don't know how I wound up defending everyone from Teri (who was teh evil!!! because she didn't worship Jack!!!!) to Chappelle to Tony to Alberta (the hell?) and whoever else for being evil and only wanting Jack's downfall or some insanity. I also suspect I have a rep as a Jack hater now but whatever.
ROTFL. I noticed! I'm like, she's spending a lot of time defending Alberta *giggle*. and Teri...How DARE she have her own emotions or not be able to get through to her husband who didn't want help - the bitch! Right, everyone just wanted to destroy Jack. Destroy him I say! Actually, there's only one character (beyond the Drazens) who actively wanted Jack's downfall and that's Nina. Hee. i think you do, which is just way too amusing. Me post there? I'm not crazy ;)
THAT must be an icon! 24: More Daddy Issues in one day than most people have in a lifetime. Maybe I'll put that on my lj somewhere.

Hee. In her defense, in my story it was more of a mistake (Tony's fault really) so she's not the world's worst cook but not the most attentive one either.
Regret or turning point?catch22girlJune 28 2004, 23:10:07 UTC
It's always been my firm belief that she doesn't regret killing Teri because Teri was person and had dreams and trusted her to keep her and her family safe but because it meant Jack was going to hunt her down for the rest of her life
I have to admit I honestly disagree with that -- I think that she regrets killing Teri because her death was what made her an outlaw and broke her cover, not necessarily that Jack would be hunting her down. I think she also regretted it because after the Drazen thing failed part of her was willing to let Jack and Teri go off and be happy. I think in some very tiny part she also knew how much Teri meant to Jack and how much losing her would destroy him. But her cover/safety came first. Although I do agree that she doesn't regret it because Teri was a person.
She doesn't really like being reminded of her crimes either.
Of course, why is Chase so worshipful of Jack? There's the hoyay reasons but excluding those it does make me wonder why he really needs that older male figure in his life to look up to.
Well, yeah the hoyay reasons but then there's also the fact that Jack well...IS abusive to him. Which is why I think he might have been abused because he's worshipping and looking for acceptance/praise from a father figure who does actively hurt him.
I really got the protection thing from Palmer not to protect Wayne but to protect his Presidency from outside influence, where really whatever Milliken asked for Palmer wouldn't have granted. Hmmm Wayne *IS* perhaps the one who thinks less about the consequences until it's too late. Even if he does play poltics.
I can't wait to read your story. As I said, if you need a beta or anything - or just someone to rant to about it, lol - feel free to email.
One minute I was defending Chappelle who was apparently set to use Jack's heroin confession in his master plan to destroy him and then it's all Alberta and what her career plans were and how they too involved destroying Jack.
Oh, of course. Alberta really wanted to be head of CTU, 'cause wow, what a cushy job is that? And so much job security! Some paranoid posters on there *nod. Some good ideas, but some paranoid posters. I can't get over the guy who wanted Jack to have to kill Kim - the hell?
"Teri should have stayed by Jack" they really meant "I would have never left Jack because I love him and that bitch didn't deserve him!".
Yeah, wish fulfillment much? I mean, I think that anyone after living with that for long enough - someone who has put up a brick wall between you and them, doesn't talk to you, barely acknowleges you're alive and of course probably works almost all the time - there's a happy marriage. No, really, one anyone would want to stay in. *facepalm*. And knowing how nicely Jack handles emotional pain I'm sure he was really lovely to be around in general.
You are! You must be! Because you *gasp* aren't blindly defending him!
Don't forget Bob/Marie - cause yeah...Daddy Issues. BTW, I totally put that in my member info. lol. Oh and please send the George story!
