Can It Be You and Me?
Part 4
A couple days later
The family members were gathering at YG cafeteria. It was not the first time Jiyong and Youngbae sat separately. But it was the first time they did not say a word to each other, especially Youngbae. He was sending bad aura.
Why?
It was because YG had a guest and he was sitting with Jiyong, talking to Jiyong and flirting with Jiyong!
After Youngbae finished his dinner, he got up and left without talking to anyone. Weird everyone thought. Big Seunghyun, being worried, followed him.
“Hey,” said Big Seunghyun.
“Hyung,” said Youngbae, “What are you doing here?”
Big Seunghyun held up a cigarette in his hand. Youngbae nodded and asked for one.
“What’s wrong?” asked Big Seunghyun giving Youngbae a cigarette, “You don’t usually smoke.”
Youngbae said nothing but looking up at the clear blue sky. He wished his mind would be as clear as the sky. It was so confusing that he could not understand his own head.
“Have a problem with Jiyong?” asked Big Seunghyun.
Youngbae shook his head.
“Have a problem with Keita?” asked Big Seunghyun.
“You know that he is trying to flirt with Jiyong, don’t you?” Youngbae asked back instead.
“It’s kind of obvious, isn’t it?” said Big Seunghyun, “and?”
“Why do you guys let him do it?” asked Youngbae. Anger could be heard from his voice.
“We don’t,” said Big Seunyhyun.
“Then why is he here?!” asked Youngbae.
“He is here for work. They are working on the new collaboration!” said Big Seunghyun, “and there won’t be anything because Jiyong doesn’t like him that way!”
“What if he does?” said Youngbae. He would be happy if Jiyong had a girlfriend. Actually Jiyong always had one until recently that he was too busy. He needed someone to take care of himself, but not a boyfriend!
“Then let it be,” said Big Seunghyun looking at Youngbae seriously. “I don’t see any difference between Jiyong with a girlfriend and Jiyong with a boyfriend. As long as that guy really loves him and Jiyong loves him too, I’m okay with it,” he added.
“But it’ll never work,” said Youngbae looking up at the sky.
“Who says it won’t?” asked Big Seunghyun.
“People won’t like it. He will be bashed and it will be over sooner or later,” said Youngbae.
“Do you think he, the Kwon Jiyong, cares about that?” asked Big Seunghyun. They all knew that Jiyong cared only for the people he loved and loved him.
“I just want him to be happy,” said Youngbae quietly, “Falling in love with a guy, he won’t be happy.”
“What if he’s already had?” said Big Seunghyun looking at Youngbae who turned to look at him at once. He saw mix of feelings from the younger friend. Hesitation, losing, jealousy, sorry and fear
….
At the studio
Keita had been working here since two days ago. He had heard of the close relationship between Jiyong and Youngbae but he never thought it would be ‘this’ close.
Youngbae was with them all the time, recording, arranging, eating and hanging out. It would not be weird if Keita did not feel some threatening glare every time he got quite close to Jiyong
Keita could not keep his curiosity to himself. He decided to ask Jiyong while they were having lunch at YG cafeteria. Youngbae had a phone call so he was still upstairs.
“You two are really close to each other,” said Keita sitting opposite to Jiyong.
“Me and Youngbae?” asked Jiyong.
“Yes,” said Keita, “If you did not said he’s got a girlfriend, I’d think otherwise.”
“Like what?” asked Jiyong.
“Like he is the reason why you rejected me,” said Keita sounding both kidding and serious.
Jiyong was speechless. He did not expect Keita to bring this up.
“Is that a ‘yes’?” asked Keita. He was really interested in Kwon Jiyong. He could even leave anything behind just to know this man in front of him better.
“No,” said Jiyong shaking his head. He took his time putting the poker face on and said, “We are best friend. Besides, he has a girlfriend. A pretty one.”
“Really?” asked Keita.
Jiyong nodded.
“If you say so,” said Keita. He was really sure that Youngbae had a special feeling for Jiyong and probably Jiyong did too.
Youngbae came out of nowhere and sat down next to Jiyong.
“What are you talking?” asked Youngbae putting his dinner in front of him.
“We are talking about your girlfriend. Jiyong said she is pretty,” said Keita, “Is she the one who’s called?”
“Yes, thanks” said Youngbae turning to Jiyong, “You can’t cancel today’s dinner. I’ve talked to Teddy, Choice and your manager. They said you are free to go.”
Noticing Jiyong smiling uncomfortably, Keita had one of his thoughts confirmed. He suddenly said, “Sounds interesting! Can I go with you? Like double date; you and your girlfriend and me and Jiyong.”
Both Jiyong and Youngbae looked at him unbelievably.
“I’m kidding. But I really want to go with you. It is not a date since Jiyong goes and makes it three, right? I want to go so Jiyong can hang out with me when you and your girlfriend are having some romantic moment,” said Keita sounding almost innocent.
Youngbae wanted to say ‘No’ to Keita but he could not. He should not. He did have a reason for it. What he had was a feeling he himself did not know.
