(LF) GDYB : Can It Be You and Me? part 1 (PG 13)
hi everyone ^^
thanks for commenting and reading my fics. i never meant to write a chaptered fic cuz i thought it was too difficult for me. but here it is ^^;; actually i wanted to write it for the gdyb day but i could not make it. then i tried to make it a one long fiction, but it would take months to finish as it's getting too long. finally i decided to cut it into chapters and will try my best to have the last chapter posted no later than gd's bday ^^ wish luck ^^
this has nothing to do with all the gdyb series. all comments are welcome ^^
Can It Be You and Me? Part 1
Everyone knew that Big Bang’s Taeyang or Dong Youngbae never had a girlfriend. Despite being an idol, his friends, family and even YG told him to find someone.
YG said having a relationship would give him inspiration.
Teddy said having a girlfriend would bring colors to his too ordinary life.
Dongwook said falling in love once and he would know what it meant.
and more.
Youngbae also questioned himself many times why he never had any relationship.
Before Big Bang, Youngbae had to work hard to debut. With school and training, he had no time to do anything else. He actually never thought once about a girlfriend. Youngbae might have been busy with training. Together with Jiyong, he was enjoying his trainee life. They were together through up and down, laughter and tears. However, his best friend could magically balance his busy life to date some noonas.
When Big Bang was a rookie, Youngbae thought life would be easier than when he was a trainee. But he was totally wrong. He and the members had to work day and night to keep up with their crazy schedule. They had to work even harder to reach the top and become the real artists. His life was as busy as the other members. That’s why he was wondering how they could find themselves a time to see their girlfriends, especially Jiyong.
During “Lies”, Youngbae and the other Big Bang members could not step out of their apartment or their office without a hidden camera of some hardcore fans. Their privacy was not private anymore. So let alone an attempt to date some girls or even to meet them. He witnessed the other members’ breaking up and dating again and again.
After “Sunset Glow”, life seemed to slow down. Youngbae started working on his solo. He should be happy to finally have his dream come true, but he sensed of emptiness. And it was growing bigger and bigger inside of him, especially when being alone in his room.
Knock!
Knock!
Youngbae came back to the room like he was just woken up. Jiyong was at the door, smiling.
“You are here,” said Jiyong sitting beside Youngbae who was still playing with a ring on his little finger.
“You are here too” asked Youngbae smiling back to his best friend. One reason for feeling so lonely was that Jiyong had his own solo to do too. They saw each other everyday but barely talked. Jiyong always passed by his studio before or after he went to his own studio just to say hi.
“Do you want to go out tonight? With all of us?” asked Jiyong knowing Youngbae might be tired from working in the studio all day.
“I don’t know,” said Youngbae sighing. He did not really know what he wanted and clubbing with the guys was surely not it.
“What’s wrong, man?” asked Jiyong. With all those years, he could sense if there was something wrong with his best friend only with a blink. Youngbae had been quite stressed for awhile.
“Nothing,” said Youngbae. He looked at Jiyong and felt the familiar warmth fulfilling him.
Although none of them said anything, the atmosphere was not uncomfortable. Finally Youngbae broke the peacefulness asking, “What about an old ride with me instead?”
Jiyong smiled and nodded. At least, he could get Youngbae out of his room and driving was their favorite. Hopefully, he could find out what had been bothering with his best friend.

“Hello,” Big Seunghyun answered his call.
“Hello, hyung,” said Jiyong.
“When will you get here?” asked Big Seughyun, “Youngbae coming too?”
“I’m sorry hyung, we won’t be there tonight,” said Jiyong, “Youngbae and I are going for a ride.”
“Are you sure?” asked Big Seunghyun. Although he acted like a maknae, he was the oldest brother. He did know there was something wrong with his younger brother‘s’.
“Yes,” said Jiyong, “Have fun tonight hyung! And say hi to the guys for me.”
“You guys too,” said Big Seunghyun, “Becareful and see you guys later.”
“Jiyong?” asked Hyuksoo, a top model and one of their friends.
“Yes,” said Big Seunghyun, “He called to tell me that he won’t come tonight. He and YB are going for a ride.”
“Jiyong must be worried about him. He said Youngbae was strange lately,” said Hyuksoo, “I think it may be time for YB to have a girlfriend”
“Yeah,” said Big Seunghyung, “I guess you are right. How weird it is that Youngbae never has a girl while Jiyong has too many!”
Hyuksoo did not say anything. He became so quiet that Big Seunghyn noticed.
“Are you okay? Jiyong doesn’t come doesn’t mean we won’t have fun. Come on!” said Big Seunghyun energetically.
“I’m worried about him, hyung,” said Hyunksoo seriously, “Do you know if he is seeing anyone at the moment?”
“Jiyong?” asked Big Seunghyun, ““I don’t think so. He’s been too busy lately.” Looking at Hyuksoo sincerely, he said, “He is fine. Don’t worry.” He paused for awhile and considerably said, “I think it was over long time ago.”
Hyuksoo sighed and smiled helplessly.
Big Seunghyun nodded understandingly. He saw a beautiful girl coming to where they sat. He waved at her and told Hyuksoo, “Your girlfriend is coming. Let’s find something to drink.”

Youngbae was driving and Jiyong was humming a song played by the radio DJ. After awhile Youngbae let out a long relieving breath and started talking.
“I know where this road takes me to but I don’t know if it’s really it,” said Youngbae looking at the front. They were driving along the river.
“What do you mean?” asked Jiyong, “We are finally here. The park looks the same, doesn’t it?
“I don’t mean ‘this road’.” Said Youngbae, “I mean what we have been doing Jiyong.”
“That’s too. It will be the same as we have dreamed of since forever,” said Jiyong, “We will be making more songs, especially our own songs. We together with Seunghyun hyung, Daesung and Little Seunghyun will be the best boyband ever.” He sounded teasingly at the end.
“Of course,” said Youngbae grinning. Jiyong really knew how to make him smile. They did a hi-five celebration before they stopped their car at the park near the river,
“What do you really want to say, Youngbae?” asked Jiyong knowing the other was ready to talk.
“I don’t know,” said Youngbae, “When we become the best, what next? What will really be there for us?”
“It’s like you are asking me what I will be in the next 5 years,” said Jiyong, “All I know is that I want it to be like this. I can work on the music I love with the people I care and have a good life with my family and friends and you. If it’s like this, let come what may.”
“You are really happy, aren’t you?” asked Youngbae smiling.
It might sound too simple for the person like Jiyong to be happy with something that simple. But for those who really knew him would know how simple he actually was.
On the other hand, someone who looked simple like Youngbae was sometimes found really complicating.
“Yes, I am,” said Jiyong and wonderingly asked Youngbae, “and you are not?”
“Of course I am,” said Youngbae giving out another sigh, “but I feel like I have a hole inside of me. I feel like my life isn’t full. It won’t be full”
“We are still young,” said Jiyong looking at the river, “There’s still a long way to go. Your life will be fulfilled when the time is right. You will find someone and have a happy family like Sean hyung. You want to become a great dad, don’t you?”
“Yes, but..,” said Youngbae sighing. He turned to look at Jiyong and asked, “What if there is no one right for me?”
Jiyong turned to look at Youngbae’s eyes. He felt like he was going to explode. The very moment their eyes met, it was like his feeling overwhelmed and broke down the great wall inside of him. But he could not let it happen. Although it was deadly hard, their special friendship was worth it.
Jiyong looked away and pretended to be as teasing as usual. He said, “How can you find someone if you don’t go out and look for her?”
“You think so?” asked Youngbae still looking at Jiyong’s side of face.
“Yes,” said Jiyong looking back at Youngbae once he regained himself.
“How can I find a girl like you?” asked Youngbae seriously. He really wanted a female Jiyong for a girlfriend if he could.
“That’d be really difficult,” said Jiyong smiling, “and you may have to be single for the rest of your life!”
“Then, can you be a girl for me?” asked Youngbae.
Jiyong was speechless. He wanted to say yes but he knew Youngbae was just kidding and it was badly hurt.
“I’m joking,” said Youngbae laughing.
Jiyong was still speechless. He did not know what to do or to say. He just automatically nodded at Youngbae’s word and looked away.
“So you are going to help me finding my girl, right?” asked Youngbae. He started the engine.
Jiyong was mindedly away.
“Jiyong?” called Youngbae.
“Yeah?” answered Jiyong looking back at the driver.
“I take that as a yes to this mission,” said Youngbae smiling, “Let’s go back, shall we?”
“Yes,” said Jiyong and they drove off.
Jiyong humming along a song played by the radio DJ, Youngbae was driving peacefully. No one said anything but this time the atmosphere was not comfortable for Jiyong anymore.
