Instant TV Viewing Thoughts

Nov 18, 2007 08:07

Current TV is making me feel mostly empty. But this may be the week I start talking about TV again. Just because.

So spoilers straight ahead. And as usual, shallow thoughts abound. Sorry that's all I've got nowadays. Or has that been always?

Friday Night Lights: I resisted the eye-rolling. Some of these plotlines are making me feel mostly blah. Surprisingly, I'm not quite disappoving of the newly improved, aggressive Saracen, whose blindly taking initiative in the romantic front. Not fully enjoying scenarios though and vehemently disapproving of the bit role casting. What's with the new extra-ish girls with absolutely no TV charisma cast opposite Smash and Saracen? Also, nasty obese man with greasy-haired aimless (most probably reaking of alcohol) Tim Riggins is wigging me out. I don't like it when stench penetrates through the TV screen. *scrunches nose* But then Santiago (Xantiago?) with the sad eyes did me in.

"This is the first real bed I've ever had."

In an episode that made me feel disconnected from majority of the characters, the last 15 seconds of the show brought me back to the loving ground. I always always have love for Coach and the missus no matter what though.

Moonlight: I don't think I love Jason Dohring enough to suffer through Moonlight. Especially an episode that doesn't have him in it. So can someone explain to me why I've endured 5 episodes of this mega death cheese with bad acting??

Supernatural: Whoa. Somewhat scary and filled with characters who are emotionally tortured. It wasn't about demons and hunters simply running amuck. They were compelled to do what they do, while truly despising and wanting to fight their demonic tendencies. I really liked the BGM used in the scene where Gordon awakens to his vampire abilities. It's some kind of heartbeat resembling tempo, echoing in a dungeon-far-below kind of thumping sound. Ominous sounds that match the mood. Me likey a lot.

Ugly Betty: Thank you for putting the kibosh to the icky Bradford-Wilhelmina kissage. But now that he's dead, would that mean less Judith Light? I like her aged self very much. That and whipping sounds. Whaaaat?

The Office: I don't like to feel Michael's pain. Too much ouchness. Pam and Kelly smackfest was slightly funny, but I'm not captivated by anyone enough to really enjoy the comedy of this show anymore. Jim one-upping Dwight doesn't get tiring though. However, cringe-inducing comedy is hard on my hyperacidic stomach, that I tell ya.

Dirty Sexy Money: I must certainly have a thing for old folgies. Donald Sutherland = loooooooooooove. Drunk on tequila, fumbling and giddy Donald Sutherland = cuuuuuute. Me = Stuuuuuupid. Wait, why was Nick so wishy-washy in this episode? Is he actually welcoming of Karen's affections? Does he actually believe in Nick + Karen = OTP? Does he not want to set the record straight for the sake of his wife and future gold digging daughter? Who, btw, exudes the same aura as Hayden Panty-hairy (I won't bother to spell the name) when she was a litlle wee bit child actor? Passive Nick, not so interesting. Frankly. I could care less about everyone else as DSM is enough entertainment and eye/ear candy for me with the combo cast of Donald Sutherland and Blair Underwood. Hot man Blair, you take my breath away, especially when you speak some unintelligible (?) Russian. Voice crushes forever!

Pushing Daisies: Ned + Chuck + Emerson + Olive = my favorite scooby gang. I think most people hate Chuck and want to smack her upside down, but I will stand by her because she's my hair twin. Basically, I like them all. And I will not nitpick a show that's obviously a fantasy fluff piece. That's like applying the laws of physics to Mary Poppins. Talk Soup!

Heroes: I will now admit that I've finally succumbed to Milo's hotness. I've deflected it many times and attributed my casual annoyance to his emo hair and GG days. But I will refrain from speaking about the shirtlessness and instead divulge that I giggled at the Peter-Adam choo-choo-train through the wall. And I no longer cringe and trace back to his atrocious role in that Paula Abdul movie when I watch Adrian Pasdar now. In short, slutty Kristen Bell has boobs galore. And is wonderfully psychotic with a dash of petulant child.

How I Met Your Mother: What a well crafted everyday-life-funny episode. The little quirks that bug. That kind of thing turn people off once its switched on. Shattered glass. Ahahaha. Yes, Marshall does totally sing. Good job, writers. Way to keep showcasing everyone (and retaining continuity) while shedding light on Ted's hapless yet inevitably happily ever after love life. This episode just made them much more endearing and regular-folk-like than the Friends gang. Well, I only did like Chandler and Phoebe anyways.

Weeds: How sad is it that Jeffrey Dean Morgan won't be making an appearance in this show anymore? This train wreck of a mother Nancy is getting downright draining to watch. She's fractured. So morally broken. Her sticking a knife to Celia's throat the other week or so was awesome. But running off to the cholos on her own, forgeting everyone else's involvement when getting knee-deep in the nitty gritties of the drug dealing biz,,, these things are getting overused. Since season finale is next week, I hope they quit it with the Matthew Modine creepiness and get back to the campy sattire that makes me guffaw.

Dexter: The freakishness that is Lila totally works for me. I would've preferred to see Dexter retain his asexual self and not given in to her easily. But this plotline is getting so topsy-turvy exciting. I would hate to be in Rita's shoes right about now.  But she's probably been able to replace the ugly dowdy feeling that resulted from her fall out with Dexter by strongly standing up against her mother. How I love a good smackdown. And Dexter sticking it to Doakes. This slightly unhinged Dexter is scary to watch. .However, there is fun and entertainment in the anxiety. Also, I am not bothered by Deb and Lundy. One awesomely awesome show sorta makes up for mediocre TV season. If only I could scrounge up my long lost brain to be able to process details again.

Whew. That ended up being longer than expected.
