My first VM episode picspam of the season. I won't get heavy into the commentary or review. I don't even mention whether I actually liked the episode or not. I'll just let my thoughts marinade a bit before I go on a posting rampage. For the meantime, just drive by and look at the pretties.
ETA: Ack!? Why are my LJ user tags fucked again?
Dick Casablancas at the Mars abode? Wait, whaaaat??? Here we have Keith and Dick in their first scene together. Ryan Hansen is seriously nailing his role and his acting isn't overbearing. I hate to admit it but Ryan Hansen really makes me not despise Dick. Dude, stop being funny and cute... and funny and cute. I like that he's not a one note character. I don't understand the weird cheerfulness but I can come to terms with him not being overly hostile around Veronica.
Wallace aka Mr. Cameo shows up. Someone remind me who this person is again? Because I have a vague recollection of him being taped naked to a flagpole back in season 1. IOh yeah, and why do these shots look cartoony to me?
Pi Sig Fratboy, Jacques Preppernau in the house, yo! I'm back to doing "Where's Waldo?" with JP again. Do you love me,
jascott?
You want to know what knocked my socks off this episode? The freaking visuals, y'all! They brought back some nice noirish touches and added some new ones that plain ROCKED the house. Are they using a different camera? What's with the sudden surge of brilliance? Why couldn't they have done this before? I was floored that the they had a ton of amazing looking scenes and most of them had Keith in it. I've been getting this icky feeling that the CW was making VM too mainstream and teeny-bop looking. And the sets were looking too cheap, the shots were looking too flat. But this ep kicked that notion off. At least, cinematography-wise it did.
Despite the overwhelming amount of "poor little Logan" close-up shots cutting into commercial (which luckily I don't get), I was pretty happy with most of JD's performance here. Because his Loganisms were back. I'll put more thought into it later, but his little quirks in this episode entertain me.
What's up with Neptune Grand's Presidential Suite's balcony being in a state of perpetual dusk? The fakeness of this bugs me. That and the bald caps.
But I like the crab and other aquatic figurines in the suite. I even like the ugly fish sculpture hanging on the wall.
spadada's on the VM map, baby. Read 'em and weep. Kelley, do you love me for posting this cap?
Last but not the least... security camera captures a suspect? Who are you mysterious Asian dude? Did you drag Claire to the store, whine about getting condoms, have Claire withdraw money and buy them for you? Talk about smooth. Is that even Claire?
Then again, I see you here in the background. So I guess you are indeed a smooth criminal.
Alternate title for this episode:
"Poor Little Rich Boy" and I have the matching Regina Spektor song to boot. Heh.
