Right before I had my surgery, I had a conversation with my priest. I was explaining the surgery to him and asking him to come visit me if he had time (he did). In response, Fr. Ted just looked at me and said, "Just remember that we like you the way you are." He wasn't trying to dissuade me from my plans- he was just offering a much-needed word of support.
"We like you just the way you are."
I think the world could use more of this type of thinking. No matter what your shape or size or appearance in general, we like you just the way you are. Doesn't mean that you shouldn't try to get your act together physically, spiritually, and emotionally, but during this transition, we like you just the way you are.
