Legendary Tales

For someone who essentially doesn't have a job right now (no hours to work, technically) I've been keeping pretty busy (no, not solely with WoW! ...though I am supposed to lead a Kara badge run 30 minutes from now. >>).

Monday we learned a new thing the hard way! That being if the bottle of multi-vitamins says "Once daily, with food" that means EAT SOMETHING FIRST and juice doesn't count! ...yeeeah that was all bad.

Tuesday I accompanied Paula to the dentist. I am really quite proud of my friend for facing her fear and finally going through with a much needed check up. She has several appointments worth of dental work ahead of her but just getting there was the first hurdle. (And before people think to themselves, "Well it's just the dentist..." as several people have been telling Paula in the months leading up, please consider that for someone who hasn't been in the dentist for years, knows that there are at least two teeth in serious trouble, and can feel her wisdom teeth coming in and causing problems, it is not just the dentist. I also want to go around and kick the 'friends' that told her that they have to 'break her jaw to remove her wisdom teeth' in the shins. Repeatedly. With steel-toed boots.)

Wednsday I found a job announcement that looks promising, though again only seasonal, and worked on revising my resume, drafting a cover letter and trying to rustle up some references. I've completely lost contact with pretty much all the people I knew in 4-H and this has proved to be not good. I need someone who remembers me as a camp councilor and I can barely remember names. This must be why we had to keep record books! >>
Also, Inbound downed A'lar for the first time. Rawk! On to Kael! (Our progression has picked up phenominally, from 1 new boss every month or so to 1-2 per week. Sunday we're supposed to hit trash and loot piñatas in Hyjal but I will be hanging out with my mom on Mother's Day. She wants to go see "Iron Man." ^_____^)

Thursday was an errand day. Thanks to having to sign something at the Watershed Institute I magically ended up in Seaside which has the closest actual bookstore-bookstore to me. I scored "Good Omens" and "Anansi Boys" and I STILL have about $2 left on my gift card. They're shiny and tempting but I'm holding off until I finish my adventures down the wild Colorado with Major Powell. (Its actually a really facinating book and when I pick it up its hard to put down. It's just a matter of picking it back up.)

Friday I finished my cover letter, chose someone else that I actually have contact with to be my third reference when a lead fell through, and sent it all off probably juuust to late to actually catch anyone. Phooey. Now I get to wait and hope I hear back soon enough. One of the requirements is First Aid/CPR certification and I found a couple classes that will get me certified in time but they cost $55 and are coming up very soon. And while it's probably a good idea to be certified anyway... $55 is a lot to shell out, particularly when I don't have any steady income at the moment.

Meanwhile, Violet is getting more accustomed to the harness and leash. He no longer hunkers down and nibbles on whatever grass is within reach or creeps along on his belly (kitty commando crawl!). The leash doing odd things still startles him, like wrapping around one of the posts in the porch and making an odd sound as he pulls it, but he's not nearly as skittish as at first. Also, he's starting to respond positively to gentle tugs, taking a few steps in the direction I want him to go rather than pulling in the opposite direction. I was suprised at how well he took having the strap around his middle tightened too. After he slipped out of what seemed to be a comfortable tightness but was clearly too loose, I tightened it quite a bit to what seemed almost too tight though I can get a finger under it and he seems to get along fine and doesn't mind when I clasp that strap.

Finally, today is rantingmule's birthday. Happy birthday!
