The moral of this story is go barefoot!

Have been digging fennel the past few days at work. Had a sort of scary situation-ish when Ray drove up to say hi, meet my new co-worker and then proceeded to tell us that three guys had just jumped a girl and her boyfriend at the bus stop, pushed her down and stole her iPod. We didn't see anybody but if they were running past us, well, there's the trail we could see, then the creek full of willows and cottonwoods they could very well run through, and another trail on the other side. Ray gave us a pep-talk about using our shovels if need be. I think he sort of scared my new co-worker a little with the story but she came back the next day so it's all good. Me, I've lived in the area all my life. Not realizing there's cholos around would just be stupid of me.

Meanwhile, the world has news and I feel like pointing my friends list to certain things, largely frivilous. (You think, as a peace activist and so forth, I would link to relevant articles on the government and so forth, but no! You get this instead!)

It is my DUTY as a founding memeber of the Barefoot Brigade to link you to the following LA Times article: The moral of this story is GO BAREFOOT!
(I loves a good dose of evolutionary biology with my breakfast...)

Also, as a soccer fan I am stoked that David Beckham will be playing for California! Well, Los Angeles. But still!

And finally, I'm rooting for Cisco. Partially because I am not a Mac person (and really, from what I've read, which isn't thaaat much, Apple and Steve Jobs' take on the whole thing seems really... arrogant) but mostly because it's not Microsoft we need to worry about being evil. It is Cisco. Because Cisco quietly RULES THE INTERNET with all its routers and switches and dozens of other networking products.

barefoot brigade, geekness, work
