I'm moving up in the ranks of Long Beach poets!
In a few weeks I will be official two stes up in the Best poet of Long Beach, CA list! Go Johnny!
Actually, it is because my two other poet friends in LB are moving. : (
Derrick Brown and Maggie Wells.
They are also my partners in the irrregularly scheduled poetry workshop over the past several years. Some other writes have joined us and the mix of artistic sensibilities has always provided exceptional feedback and inspiration.
D is moving to Nashville and M is going to NY to do an MFA program in creative writing.
Friday is M's ggoing away party and Sunday D has a show/going away party that I'm supposed to coordinate, I think. I came up with a country fair theme which will feature things like a pie eating contest (the little Hostess brand pies), hog calling (anyone have a hedgehog I can borrow for a night?), and some other excitement.
Now who will inspire me to write? Oh yeah, my students. I start teaching full-time in 6 weeks. Yikes!
