25-07-2005 (yesterday). Our second day in Pula.

Jul 26, 2005 20:28

We went to this island today. I think it's called Small Brijuni or something. I'd tell you to check June's LJ for the real name, but she decided to not write anything. We were on the boat with a lot of Dutch people. If I hadn't been crazy already, I probably would have been now. As nice as it is to hear voices in a familiar language for a change, we're in Croatia, dammit! There should be Croatians here, or English people. Maybe even Germans. But a boat full of Dutch people_ Really, there are only like 16 or 17 million people in my country, so what are the ods of finding a boat full of them in Croatia, which is not even close to the Netherlands_ Given that you don't know it actually happened, of course, cause then it would be 100%... Anyway, the island is near Pula, where we were staying at Tamara's place, who is a friend of Nic. The beach was nice. There were stones, but no pointy rocks, like there were on the beach of Pula where Tamara and I went swimming yesterday (while Nic and June sat on the beach getting fake tattos or something). June was awed by the sea, which was clear enough to see all the way to the bottom. At one point Nic lay down on the stones ˝to dry˝. I burried him under some stones while he was complaining that it tickled, and June was taking pictures. There was some talk of meeting Mira Furlan. See, there were also three Canadian friends of June there, and one of them knew Mira personally. They were supposed to leave on the five o'clock boat, an hour before us, and close to five, they still hadn't arranged the meet-up. They missed the boat though, as we found out an hour later, when we found them sitting near the dock. By that time they had arranged for at least the three of them to be able to stay for Mira+s rehearsal and actually get off the island afterwards. Just before we were supposed to leave, Mira arrived. They then arranged that we could stay as well. June especially, was thrilled. So we stayed for the rehearsal of the play, which was, of course, in Croatian. But after June told me that it was this story from Greek mythology, and I looked it up in the book I coincidentally trought, I was able to get the general plot. Mira looked absolutely wonderful playing it, by the way. The rehearsal was first of most of the scenes, randomly following eachother, and then the whole thing, which was much more coherent. At the end we went with the actors' boat to the big island which had hotels where I figured the actors were staying, and then we had a taxi boat back to the main coast. It was a speed boat, and speedy it was. The Canadians actually paid for the trip, which was quite a lot. Or at least I think it was. After taking some more pictures on the dock, we had a drink while waiting for our taxi back to Pula, which was there a lot faster than they told us. Tomorrow, we have to get up quite early because our hosts are leaving in the morning. The plan is to get breakfast somewhere in Pula and probably walk around the city for a bit before getting on the bus back to Zagreb.

When we were in the sea, June dropped her ring in the water, but after some trying, Nic recovered it again, and we all went ˝my precious...˝
Oh yes, and when we were watching the rehearsal, Nic suddenly realized he was still wearing the pants he swam in, and he hdn't changed, so he had met Mira while not wearing any underwear. I had a quick flashback to the movie Basic Instinct right about then...

I recommend you check June's latest entry (of the 26th) for pictures. There are some quite pervi pictures of Nic there, as well.

Today (the 26th) we pretty much did what I predicted. Got breakfast in the city, walked around a bit, got on the bus, slept some on the bus, go out and back to Trnsko, where Nic lives. June and Nic are out to buy bread right now for lunch/dinner.
If my pictures turn out okay, I have a very cute picture of June sleeping on Nic's shoulder, but shh, don't tell June yet. :P
