I've been posting even less than usual, and I thought I'd do a brief explanation as to why. In December, I noticed that I'd started wheezing; after I got back from Christmas break, I went to see my doctor. We tried some antibiotics - nothing. Tried some inhalers - nada. Breath test came back okay. But by now I had chest pain and tightness and shortness of breath. So I got sent to a cardiologist. After a stress test, an echocardiogram, and more EKGs than anyone my age should have to have had (plus two trips via ambulance to the ER in the space of a week), we determined my heart is fine. However, a CT scan of my lungs has shown that there is fluid in them. It's not congestive heart failure, because they tested for that. (On a test where over 100 is congestive heart failure, I scored 9.)
This means it is lung-related. I'm going for a full breath test work up (ie not the one your gp does) on Friday, and I'm waiting to see a pulmonologist. They gave me a breathing treatment in the ER and a couple of inhalers which are helping with the symptoms some, but I'm still a bit fragile.
I will be at Marcon and FKO, but if I'm a bit less bouncy than usual, this is why. Also, please forgive me for being even worse about keeping in touch than usual; I've been desperately trying to make up for missed time at work and been trying to breathe enough to function. Everything else has been a bit neglected.
