Okay, so working on the theory that all knowledge is contained on LJ...
I need to scan a bunch of journal articles and put them up as pdfs for one of my classes. (It all falls under fair use, so don't worry about that part.) The problem is, any time I try to do this, the files end up huge! But the pdfs I can get of articles from journals directly (when they're available online) are much smaller. Can anyone give me any tips? I don't know much at all about scanning documents and making files, so I may be doing it entirely incorrectly.
