I had the most wonderful day today. I was at work all day, I kept locking up the shop to run to the market and buy more candy cause there were so many kids coming by trick or treating. I put a sign on the door "gone for more candy" so there were always a few kids waiting when I came back. You can't pass up an opportunity like that! It's a sure thing! Lol.
There was a parade first thing in the morning, I thought it was going to be maybe 15-20 minutes long and then it'd be all over, but after 2 hours they were still coming! I didn't know there were so many kids around here lol. Between getting overrun by these adorable urchins and texting with my sweetie about the details of each little character, I had a most perfect day.
The highlights included a light saber battle between Luke Skywalker and Blue SPD Power Ranger, several tiny Yodas, a storm trooper, a peacock, a tiny pirate that came back half a dozen times for candy, about 200 tiny princesses (I knew I should've worn my costume), the most memorable one was a very small but over eager princess who was in such a hurry to get to the candy that she tripped and fell onto the bag I was holding and ripped it in two, sending the goods flying everywhere. It was very cute. ^^
Of course I was particularly fond of the felines, a lot of boys were very impressive lions, while the girls were very nicely made up housecats with fluffy tails.
There were several tigers, I know some people reading this who will appreciate that... :-p
I was surprised that the most common costume of choice was still the Batman, Spiderman and Scooby Doo for the boys. I guess some things never go out of style.
Even after it got dark, which is way too early these days, they were still coming. Even after I locked the door, they were knocking "Are you open? Are you open?" Of course I was. :-p
I was so glad though, I never enjoyed my day at work as much as today. I talked to my boss on the phone, I told her I want to work every Halloween. I would show up even if I wasn't scheduled to. And I would too. I didn't tell her I won't be in the country by then... but it's true, whatever place I'm working, even though it's not as big a deal in the UK as it is here, I want to be where the action is. :D
I hope everyone had as good a Halloween as I did. :)
