Thank you for the encouragement! I'm glad you like Larry.

What would have happened to both L & C if the mentoring relationship had stopped? As you said, in canon Charlie's already self-absorbed and somewhat immature for his age. W/o Larry to guide him and be his friend, the 21 yr old Charlie would have been desperate to belong somewhere, and probably he'd have been much more childlike, as well.

Larry would also have been very isolated w/o Charlie in his life. Not from a romantic POV (in my mind that attraction didn't start till Charlie's graduation) but as someone to mentor, to play with, to interact w. intellectually, and to help him with his own work. Larry is old beyond his years here b/c of that lack of connection. Larry needs Charlie just as much as Charlie needs him, and it was destined to happen, on one time line or another. *g*

This meeting happened after Charlie's 21st BD to minimize any technical inequality between them in this story. Real effects of the age difference might be an interesting topic to pursue in their future, though. Hmmmmm.

I'm really glad that, ultimately, it was Larry that Charlie turned to, not a street gang or something.... Can you imagine him on the opposite side of the law? Ach! Another weird AU plot bunny!
