Music in public

Have you ever noticed the music that is playing when you walk into a retail store. As I visited my neighborhood Walgreens this morning it hit me like ton of bricks. There is always either one of the two types of songs on when I enter: (1) a sappy 70's Olivia Newton John-esque love ballad; or (2) a hair crazed rock ballad. What is Walgreens trying to do? I understand when places play music to keep you at their establishment, cause you to spend more money, or make you want to leave (ex. Loud as hell crap they play at Hot Topic) but I think Walgreens wants you to be totally amused by the fact that the dirty little drugstore is playing this music or have crawl into a fetal position. Maybe it is suppose to make you sick and want more drugs. Or keep you from getting annoyed when you have to get your over the counter cold medicine from behind the counter because the world fears that everyone has a crystal meth lab in their house.

This rant brought to you by avoidance of writing a paper.
