Argh, I can't pick just one! Here are a few:
Memoirs Found in a Bathtub (Stanislaw Lem) - SF dystopia/political satire
Dinosaur Beach (Keith Laumer) - hardboiled time travel paradox
The Man in the High Castle (Philip K. Dick) - mindbending alternate-history SF
Red Harvest (Dashiell Hammett) - a lone detective walks into a corrupt one-horse town...
2. Your favorite movie?
Tie between Yojimbo (the coolest ever) and Das Boot (the most tension ever)
3. Your least favorite adaptation of a book to a movie?
Lady in the Lake (1947). Ruined a perfectly good book by filming it in what would today be called "first person shooter" style. Hate!
4. Your least favorite adaptation ever of anything to a movie?
Pearl Harbor. Should've been called "Bora Bora Bora".
5. Your first ever novel/comic book/movie character crush?
Spock, of course!
