My Thoughts on POTC 4 and a few gorgeous HQ promo stills
I went to see Pirates of the Caribbean 4 on Saturday night...it entertained me, but didn't 'wow' me.

I know that this film was originally based on a very popular ride at Disney - one of my favorites for certain! So I know it must be taken with a grain of salt, not held to any particular standard. But if you love history, you must turn a blind eye while watching this film. *laughs* Blackbeard was assassinated in battle along the Outer Banks of North Carolina....not in some vague cavern in the Caribbean....and the mythical 'fountain of youth' has long been believed to have been in Florida *laughs* which in no way resembles the landscape shown in the film. And Blackbeard was a very nasty piece of work in real life.
But if I set all that aside, I enjoyed the ride that this film provides. The special effects are top notch. But Jack Sparrow seemed less animated this go around? And Barbosa didn't truly seem himself until the final scene. And vampire mermaids? Not sure I could buy that either. *laughs* This film did not engage me near as much as the first three in the franchise. Can't quite put my finger on it...but I didn't feel the magic this time. I'd still say go see it though...just don't expect fireworks. LOL
