Macrobiotic me!

At the weekend I exhibited at a psychic and holistic fair in Burton-on-Trent and did a "swap" with another holistic practitioner called Maureen. She gave me a free aura/chakra and homeopathic reading in exchange for a Metamorphic session. Maureen has her own holistic centre and practises homeopathy, Indian head massage, reflexology and Reiki at Master level.

She had heard of the Metamorphic Technique before but hadn't actually received it. She later declared it to be "powerful". She signed my visitor's book.

Her hubby Keith took a photo of my aura, a big green one with some yellow. Maureen said she loves greens because they are very balanced. They have one foot on the ground and one high up so are a great link between earth and the spirit world. Greens also need to be with nature so living in a high rise apartment with views of concrete would make them miserable. They need to see the trees (very true!). She says I was probably a witch in a former life, growing and picking herbs and making them into healing potions. As therapists we adopt a hands-on approach and prefer to help people to help themselves rather than doing it all for them (thus the Metamorphic Technique is a perfect choice for me!) We also make excellent teachers. She says some people accuse us of talking too much because we talk so enthusiastically about subjects and also we worry excessively about money even if there is no need to. We need to feel secure and that we are able to pay our bills and don't like it when things are tight (so true!).

She said the yellow in my aura signifies that I see life as being fun and an adventure and am very sociable. (Also true.) However, I have two sides: public and private. I can be real fun in public and am very bubbly but privately I can be more serious. (Also true.) There is also a line through the top of my aura which signifies I have immense spiritual ability. However, my crown and third eye chakras are currently quite closed, preventing me from channelling a lot of spiritual energy because of my current health problems. She could see from my chakras that I have low blood pressure, a thyroid and pituitary problem, a weak liver and weak kidneys - all of which I already knew. She said a lot of my health problems -including low/erratic blood sugar levels - have either been as a result of or exacerbated by my hormone imbalances, but I have always had a slightly weak liver and weak kidneys: it runs in the family and, because family members on both sides have suffered from stroke, I also know I am at high risk. She also identified I have intolerances to sugar, alcohol, and to a larger extent wheat and dairy.

So Maureen took a look in my eyes and afterwards said yes, the kidneys are definitely the biggest concern. She said actually I would be a very interesting case study because I have so many things wrong with me that even involve dietary conflicts! (ie carbs are important for hypoglaecimics but I shouldn't have wheat because I have a real intolerance!)

So Maureen recommended a macrobiotic diet: lots of fresh/raw vegetables and salad, fruits (excluding grapes, mango, papaya), grains and pulses, and fish or seafood in small quantities several times a week. No wheat, no eggs, no dairy, no meat, only desserts/candy or a glass of wine a couple of times a week max.

Yesterday I had Ryvita for breakfast, a vegan salad for lunch (that we sell at the coffee shop) and a very light tapas dinner and white wine spritzer with my friend Sue. Plus just one black coffee, a Peppermint tea and lots of water during the day.

Today I had fresh fruit salad and a black coffee for breakfast when I arrived at the shop and I'm drinking water right now. Lunch will be something vegan and I'm having salmon with rice and vegetables for dinner and a banana for dessert.

My new diet is well worth a try - macrobiotics are surely better than popping even more medication.

Dan is very supportive and I have asked him to bully me if I begin to stray towards the candy bars or bowls of french fries (I am not allowed fried food). He woke up crying recently after a horrible dream in which I died. He is afraid of losing me and will do anything he can to have me tied to his ankles by the ball and chain! That's why I love him. He accepts me totally as I am. What a great guy. Oh, and he's going to teach me to play golf.

Catherine.
