Immediately Sweeney was at his side, though he was clearly having some trouble deciding which problem to address first. Finally he decided to go with the loudest, and turned his attention to changing the baby's diaper, patting his belly and grinning to try and make the little one stop screaming.
He wanted to tell him no, not because he was dead, damn it, but because this was his home now. With Sweeney and the baby. But he couldn't bring himself to do that.
It was all so much easier for him when he didn't have to make a decision.
"Maybe I can't go back. After all, it may bottom my mems, if I am dead and suddenly appear - but if the door leads there, then perhaps here too - what if - " his brain was going a mile a minute.
Sweeney couldn't say anything. It was like his mind had shut down and the only thing he could think of was that Jackrabbit was going home. It had all been too good to be true anyway.
"Everything alright in here, man?"

Mo Chroi just screamed.

Mo Chroi stopped crying, though his face was still red and wet and wrenched up.
"Mamaaaaa" he whined.

"Yeah, you'll get Mama in just a minute, hang on kiddo."
He shot Jackrabbit a worried look.
