I nipped down to Wellington for the weekend to see my nearest and dearest and, incidentally, pick up my Sir Julius Vogel's Award (mine! all mine! (except for Daisy Ninja Girl's share)). It's very pretty. And made out of resin, which it really doesn't look like. A picture was taken of us holding the trophy (actually a stunt double) and an occasional cat - alas, I don't have a copy yet.

We wandered through the Affordable Art Show on Saturday morning with some of Daisy Ninja Girl's friends. We agreed that admiring people's bottoms is okay provided that the picture as a whole is aesthetic and, you know, arty. Art was bought, but not by me. DNG came out with a particularly nice one of two young women sitting on a bench. Everything about the picture except actual physical contact - eyelines, arm positioning, everything - suggests that they're holding hands. It's nice.

And then we spent most of the weekend speed-writing the character sheets and scripts for a larp that're due last Friday, yay! The details I may not share, save that there was much sniggering, and that at one point I felt both shame and a strange, wobbling pride. Be interested as to how it turns out. (The larp is "But Nobody Loses An Eye!" - a party for little kids. Snigger.)

And then I came home in the evening, on the top level of a double-decker bus, which was pleasantly high. Mentally I was leaning out the window with my tongue hanging out.

Oh, and Steph reckons I'm looking a lot better than a couple of months ago, which coincides nicely with feeling better.

arts and crafts, three shades of awesome, family
