I had one of those ridiculous accidents a couple of nights ago, tripping in my bedroom. Gah. I hurt my shoulder, and spent a long night in A & E, working my way up the triage queue along with the guy with the stab wound and the guy who kept having seizures on the floor as a result of quitting an extreme alcohol habit cold turkey. They were pretty nice, and I really hope the latter gets better - he later fell off the bed, gashed his head on something, and got carried off to the resus section with an oxygen mask and Quite a Lot of Drama. Poor guy. Best of luck to you, C!
In any case, turns out it wasn't dislocated but there's a minor fracture. Joy. Turns out shoulders don't take casts easily, so they gave me a sling and a lot of painkillers. Mmm, painkillers. Have been spending the day on the couch marathonning Ouran High School Host Club, which tends to make anything a bit better. Cat Minor has an upsetting tendency to jump on the bad shoulder in blissful ignorance that this causes me pain, and was banned from my bedroom for the night (she was very apologetic when I let her back in this morning). I have a terrible urge for junk food right now. Am very glad that two-handed typing came back on-line today - hunt-and-peck is very frustrating.
This soft waist support band makes a very good sling, actually - it's soft and a bit stretchy, so it's comfortable around the neck and where my wrist rests on it, and easier to get out of than the one they gave me, when I need to get out of it.
