Dear Diary, today I pulled weeds

(It's been a while.)

I cleared all the stray green stuff from my rose bed, and did a bit of watering of the plants that had hit shade by that time of day.  (It's been very dry and sunny of late, which means watering the whole lot every evening, which gets to be a drag, so I'm splitting the chore a touch.  Also, I put on a breath mask and stirred around my compost bin a bit and fished about a bucket's worth of decomposed grass from the bottom to re-mulch my baby lemon tree.  (The citrus food really paid off there - the yellow in the leaves is almost gone, there's new growth, and actually fruit swelling.  The Moral of the Story is, sometimes when shop's keep trying to sell you something, they actually have a good reason.)

The amateur game mod I was working on for Baldur's Gate has hit the beta-release - I'm in that breathless excitement after outsiders have had a chance to look at it and before any bug reports have come in. Eeeeee!  I hope they like it.  I hope they like the bits I did.  Please don't find any really embarrassing errors...

Also also, I tried a version of my Mum's vanilla almond pudding recipe (she eats it for breakfast, sometimes).

1/3 cup of almond meal
1 egg
Tbsp sugar
splash of vanilla essence
handful of some kind of fruit (I used sultanas)

Whisk all ingredients together, put in a small dish, and bake in oven.  I tried 20 min at 180 C, which was a bit short - it was soggy in the middle, though very tasty.  Nice to have a hot lunch.  Also, it's immensely filling for its mass: I ate it with a plum and a pottle of probiotic yoghurt and am still feeling very full hours later.

(And look!  No gluten.  It's a thing for me.  After I'd tried avoiding wheat products for about a month as an experiment, boy did I notice feeling weird and uncomfortable after eating so much as a bread roll.  And out of breath.  Giggle at weird eating trends as much as you like; I don't mind.  I have plenty of hobbies that outsiders find amusing anyway.  But, some eating trends are there because there's some truth in them.  And the truth for me is, I don't digest wheat so well.  Now go enjoy your weetbix.)
