Paging Doctor Moron

We shot today for a medical facility, which houses several surgeons. The agency was a bit batty, but I like the art director and she and I have had a lot of contact over the last few weeks, trying to arrange getting several surgeons into our studio at one time on short notice with no money. No easy task. We managed it.

Before I continue, I'll describe the circumstances of our location. Let me cut and paste directly, the large, bold block type that is written on the .pdf map I send everyone who is visiting our studio. This text is directly under a clear graphic map. With all this described emphasis, in like, 16pt. type.

ATTENTION: PLEASE READ

We are located at 11 Blank Avenue, Unit 1. 11 Blank Avenue is NOT VISIBLE FROM THE STREET. Enter our parking lot at 17 Blank Avenue. We share this parking lot with 17 Blank Avenue. Because of this, there are two unit ones in the complex. On the north side of the lot is The Training Room, a gymnasium. We are the other unit 1, on the EAST side of the lot. The name on the door is PYRAMID STUDIOS.

FYI, we are NOT Pyramid Studios... that name was on the door when we moved in, whatever. It's irrelevant to the story. It's in big block letters facing the parking lot of the complex.

So, mid-shoot, I get a call from a surgeon. I answered the phone warmly and politely, and he immediately started screeching in my ear. He screeched he had been wandering around outside for half an hour, he was now in the gym, where the hell was the photoshoot, why hadn't we gotten started yet, he had better things he needed to be doing, why wasn't he given proper directions, someone needs to call all the other surgeons and properly explain how to get here... on and on and on and on and on - while I tried to interject and tell him that I was so sorry he was having some trouble, if he would please just walk out into the parking lot and I would meet him and walk him in. He was two doors down from us.

I instantly started beating myself up - had I not sent the map to the art director? She must have not sent it to her surgeons? Maybe I did forget! He was incredibly rude when I greeted him in the lot, finally - telling me I needed to better prepare our clients if we were going to have our studio in such an inconvenient location.

I started to apologize - and then I saw the map, my map, my clear map and plain english instructions and strategic bold lettering in his hand!

This man cuts people open for a living.
