I do like my birth name, and wouldn't change it. But, on the other hand, I do have some, er, issues with it.
No, my name is not Rosemary, nor is it Rosalind, or Rosalyn, or any one of the many other permutations of Rose. My name is Rosalie. I get mishearing me, as my name is uncommon for people my age, but if I send you an email with 'sincerely, Rosalie (surname), at the bottom, then I expect the reply to go 'Dear Rosalie'. Not 'Dear Rosaline'.
People over fifty, yes, I am aware of the song, please don't quote it at me.
Yes, I have read Twilight. I am rather annoyed that it's the only place which both spells and pronounces it right. See my icon.
Also my full name (first and last name) is rather close to a euphemism for masturbation. Although I seem to have been the only person to have noticed this. Yeah, try and guess what my last name is.
Although actually, my dad had some trouble when he was getting a passport a few years ago. See, he was christened with a first and middle name, and has always gone by his middle name, to the extent that for most of my life I thought that was his actual first name. Obviously he wanted to get a passport under the name he goes by, but his birth certificate had it the other way around. And as it all has to match up, the upshot of this was that he ended up changing his name by deed poll.
