Modelbuchs

The third and fourth files down on the weblink below are Victorian copies of period modelbuchs which some people may not have seen. I came across them tonight and have Great Plans to have real actual print versions made tomorrow, my laurel had already seen at least the first one.

There are also a number of pdfs of knitting books for various genres, which is why I posted that whole address rather than just the link to the whotsits direct, 'cos I know that there are people out there (Ginevra Darling) who might like to peruse those also....

And now I really am having a shower and going to bed.

I will just say though that a lot of the things in the first modelbuch have some totally cute designs involving bunnies and squirrels and bears and phoenixes (my laurel says it's an eagle) and unicorns and eagles, and ducks, and stags, and greyhounds chasing stags. And heaps of scrollwork which is really really cool.  And a woman cradling a man's head on her lap. Because there's no accounting for taste. I think with a little modification I could alter it to become Salome holding what's-his-name's head after she cut it off (Herod?). But that would have to be worked in colour because blood just doesn't show up that well in a monotone embroidery, and I really think you'd lose some of the depth of the image without the vital element included in some small (incredibly vivid) way. :P

Shower and bed time.

Goodnight.
