Author: Cat_13145
Pairing: Past  Tim/Kon
Characters: Tim Drake, Jason Todd, Kon, various OC.
Warnings: Slash relationships, cross-dressing and hacking.
Summary: What's really going on in DC.
Author's notes: I'm not keeping up with DC (or any comic except Captain America) currently. Thus if I make any huge errors, I'm sorry.
This is just what's really happening to the two Robins currently. (N.B. I know Kon is back, but when I started writting this, he wasn't).
Disclaimer (sorry forgot to put this on the first one, so use for both) If you recognise it, then it's not mine.

It was getting colder.

As Tim got off the bus, the first few snowflakes hit the upper part of his collar. It would already be a full flung blizzard in Goth…

No. no point in thinking about that. They had to stay away from Gotham that was part of the deal. The part which kept both of them out of Arkham- or its equivalent, he highly doubted that even Dick was enough of an idiot as to send them there.

He sighed, kicking a can as he walked along. He didn’t get why Jason had chosen New York out of all the cities possible for their exile. It had a very public superhero community, and an even more public problem with them. Some of the editorials he’d read made the Gotham Gazette look like a superhero’s best friend.

He shook his head. No point in thinking about that. They were both out of it, until they got their shit together, to quote Dick. At the time he hadn’t cared, still too sore from what had happened. Now, nearly six months later, he was getting homesick.

With any luck, Jason would still be at work, so he’d have a couple of hours to brood in peace before dinner.

Lady Luck, however, as ever these days, was not on his side. Jason was sitting in the living room, apparently working on some designs.

Aside from the job Dick knew about, as a mechanic in a small garage, Jason was also helping out a resistance group of heroes. Tim had asked him a thousand times why, but all Jason would say was he owed their leader or one of their leaders one.

“You’re home early.” Jason said, looking up. Tim shrugged.

“Practise was cancelled on account of the snow.”

It may well have been. He hadn’t stuck around long enough to find out. Jason gave him a look, and he sighed.

“Kyle asked me out.”

Jason raised an eyebrow.

“The dude in the dress?”

Tim felt this was unfair, given that the Robins had all in their time worn much worse than Kyle did. In Jason’s case, Tim had the pictures to prove it.

“What did you say?”

Tim shrugged. Jason’s eyes narrowed.

“You ran away, leaving the kid standing.”

“I didn’t run.” Tim objected. “I had to catch the bus.”

Jason snorted. Tim sighed.

“Forget it.”

“No can do, baby bird.” Jason replied, shaking his hair back from his face. “I’m responsible for you.”
Tim shook his head. “Talk about blind, leading the blind.”

“I ain’t the one who tried to get someone to kill me.”

Tim froze. “I’m going to do homework.”

He could hear Jason calling him as he walked into the small room that he refused to think of as his, flinging his bag on the bed.

What had upset him most about the incident was that there was no logical reason for him to say no to Kyle. He was a good friend, a good person even, but something had made him flee.

A knock on the door interrupted his thoughts. Jason was holding the phone in one hand.

“For you.” He said. Tim took it, trying to figure out who might be calling.

“Hello?”

“Hey, Tim?” he sighed, hoping Jason would get the message and leave. Btu the middle Robin stood watching, curiously.

“Kyle. How did you get this number?”

A slight laugh. “Malone isn’t that commoner name, Tim. All I did was look in the phone book.” He would have to speak to Jason about that.

“Look.” Kyle’s voice was serious. “I…I wanted to apologise. I know you’ve been though a rough time, with your dad and the move, I shouldn’t have put you on the spot, and I’m sorry.”

“Kyle.” He leant against the wall, sighing to himself. “I…I’m not sure I’m in a place, where what you suggested is a good plan.” He swallowed. “That doesn’t mean I don’t want a friend.”

“Oh. Cool.” Kyle sounded relieved. “So can a friend invite you to come and see a special Shaun of the Dead showing at the mall tomorrow?”

Tim considered it. He didn’t really want to go and see the film, but it would be somewhere that wasn’t school and wasn’t here.

“Sure. Why not?”

“O.K.” Kyle sounded more delighted than anyone who just been turned down had a right to. “Listen we should probably grab a bite to eat first, so if we meet in mall at 6? You’ll know me. I’ll be the guy in the skirt. Thank heavens it isn’t The Rocky Horror Picture show, or that might not be much help!”

“I’ll see you then.” Tim promised, hanging up.

He turned around to see Jason smiling at him.

“Didn’t your mother ever teach you it was rude to eavesdrop?”

“Didn’t teach me much about manners.” Jason said, collecting the phone. “You going out then?”
Tim rolled his eyes. “We’re going to see a movie on Friday. As Friends!”

“What ever you say, baby bird.” Jason observed.

Rolling his eyes, Tim turned his attention to the computer, hearing Jason shut the door as he left. He was surprised to find that he was grinning.

It had been a long time since he looked forward to anything.

He booted up messenger, because occasionally one of the Titans broke Dick’s no communication rule (usually because Damian had pissed them off royally), but no one was on line.

He pulled up that night’s homework (a project on Chinese Armour) and began to work on it.

Hours swept by as he delved into web, reading about armour that he remembered seeing when he was tagging Jason. Maybe he still had some pictures left. He clicked to open his photo folder.

A soft beep caused him to look as a message box popped up.

BigBlue2: Hey there, bird boy.

He blinked. This had to mistake. He had deleted that address from his contacts months ago.

BigBlue2: Robin are you there?

He backed away from the computer, staring at the screen. This had to be a trick, an hallucination.

BigBlue2: Whatever, this is just to let you know, I’ll be seeing you soon.

Without thinking, he turned, running for the kitchen.

“JASON! Jason!”

***

Jason gave a small sniff at the pot. He didn’t have great culinary skills, but he was able to produce food that was edible, which was more than Dick could managed.

He was pleased for Tim. This was the first sign that Tim was coming out of the depression that had engulfed him since they left Gotham.

It would certainly please Babs, during their weekly conversations, and she’d pass it on to Boy Blunder and Alfred. Both would be relieved.

He broke away from his thoughts as Tim came bursting into the kitchen.

“Jason!” he was out of breath, his eyes wide with fear.

“The computer. Kon.”

Jason had frequently being accused of reckless, fool hardy even. He was fairly sure that his next actions justified those accusations.

Without thinking, he ran along to Tim’s room.

It was ridiculous neat, nothing in it to declare it was the room of a near adult.

He scanned it, but could detect nothing out of place.

“Tim,” he said, hearing the footsteps coming up behind him. “What the fuck…?”

Tim was edging around him, very firmly avoiding looking either at him or at the computer.

“I was working on the project on Chinese Armour, when a box popped on messenger with a message from Kon”

He can see Jason’s espression. “Check if you don’t believe me. It was right there.”

Jason’s looked at him strangely.

“Tim, the computer isn’t even switched on!”
