On Monday I had to take the van over to Stapleford for a repair. The bad news was, they couldn’t do it there and then. The good news was that it’s a recognised fault and they would take pictures, get it authorised by Ford and organise the repairs later ( Read more... )

A lovely set of shots!

I agree about Mallards. They're probably the most common species of duck in the world, but they're none the less delightful to look at, and to hear as well as see going about their business.

The patterns on the Gadwall drake are beautiful. I've not seen one close-up IRL yet. I ought perhaps to get out and visit one of the semi-local wildfowl lakes some time soon.

We've had Long-tailed Tits in the garden recently, but only for about a minute or so at a time - not long enough to go and get the camera and try for a few images. They certainly do shift very quickly indeed!

I'll have to check the front hedge for catkins - they ought to be appearing by now. There are several huge queen bumble-bees out and about too, and the Forsythia in the middle hedge is coming nicely into flower.

I've seen two Robins in our front garden for the past few weeks, but they are very much competing for territory. I haven't seen them fight so far, but they're certainly not happy to share the area.

As I type, the song of a Blackbird is ringing out loud and clear from the front garden, also that of a Great Tit and a Dunnock. Spring has indeed sprung!

Thank you!

I was really happy to get so close to the Gadwall - he didn't seem at all bothered about th humans pobbling up and down. I suspect the mallards may have told him about paper bags and their contents :)
