A sad day.

Salem just had his last trip to the vet.

Just after lunch, he jumped up to Rob's chair for a head scratch, jumped down again and keeled over.

We called the vet and drove him over to the surgery, but we think he was gone before we even got him out the door, poor lad.

The house seems very quiet this afternoon.

I felt very sad as I was reading but then I wondered if he knew it was his time and just wanted a last scratch for the road.

(My eyes filled as I finished writing that sentence.)

He sounds like he was a well loved pet. I know you'll grieve but remember the good times.

We had a nice sit in the sunshine with him earlier in the day. There were snuggles.
