Chapter Two - Welcome Home

Summary: As a serial killer known as The Cat, Miranda is responsible for the murders of more than ten people. One day, she simply confessed to the murders, out of the blue, and is now rejuved...
Warning(s): Though the spanking in this first chapter isn’t very severe at all, there will be severe spankings - probably abusive by many standards - in later chapters. It’s not something I agree with in real life, but it is necessary for this story. There’s also going to be strong violence

In the car, Miranda was generally unresponsive to Chloe and Jared’s attempts to draw her into conversation. She just stared out of the window, refusing to even nod or shake her head. She hardly seemed to even hear what her new parents were saying.
“I know that we really should have expected something like this, but I’m still worried,” Chloe confided to Jared. “I don’t feel comfortable punishing her in this state, no matter what the court says.”
“I know how you feel, but we don’t have a choice,” Jared replied. “The doctor suggested several ways to bring her out of a depressive state.” He glanced over his shoulder at Miranda and then turned his attention back to the road. Even though advances in technology meant that he could just switch to automatic and let the car take care of everything, Jared preferred the relaxing motions of being able to drive himself.
Chloe sighed lightly and leafed through the report. “You know that there have been rumours of problems with the rejuvenation technology? Physically, they look like children... But some still possess the ability to reason things through like adults.”
“Do you want to give up? I think we’ll be all right, so long as we’re careful. But I don’t want you to feel endangered. So if you’re not sure...” Jared left his sentence hanging.
Chloe took a deep breath and let it out slowly. “No, I’m sure,” she said finally. “Maybe we can find out what drove her to do the things she did. If we can, we’ll know how to deal with it.”
“That’s why I love you,” Jared commented, smiling and reaching out to take Chloe’s hand.
Unknown to either of the adults, two tears tracked their way down Miranda’s cheeks.

“This is your room,” Chloe said, one arm around Miranda’s shoulders. “Do you like it?”
Miranda looked around the room, noticing the pink wallpaper and similar-coloured bed. There were stuffed animals all over the place. Dislodging the arm from around her shoulders, she stepped forward and picked up a toy cabbit - a created crossbreed between a cat and a rabbit. Cradling the toy close to her, she turned back round to her new parents and studied them, both silently and with an intent look on her face.
“You do understand the system?” Jared asked quietly. “It’s time for your welcome home spanking.” As he spoke, he sat down on the edge of the bed.
For a few moments, Miranda just watched them. Then, finally, she put the toy down and stepped over to Jared’s side.
As her husband reached out to unfasten Miranda’s trousers, Chloe took a seat next to him. “It’s dangerous for you to reach your hands back,” she said to the little girl. “I’ll hold them for you, so that you don’t get a serious injury.”
Miranda let Chloe take her hands as Jared pulled her across his knees. Once she was over, he yanked her knickers down to her ankles and patted her bare bottom. His hand covered both her cheeks, and after a moment, he spoke up. “You do understand what’s going on?”
When Chloe felt Miranda move her head against her leg, she nodded slightly to Jared.
When the first swat landed, Chloe felt Miranda jerk slightly. She didn’t make a sound, though, and it didn’t take long for the child’s bottom to pinken. Within moments, Miranda was sobbing - but she still didn’t try to reach back.
Jared paused in the spanking, and reached behind him for the big wooden hairbrush. He patted Miranda’s bottom for a moment, and her sobs increased.
After several smacks, Miranda started struggling to try and reach back. Chloe tightened her grip on the child’s hands, and after a couple of minutes, Miranda went limp, while her tears soaked into Chloe’s trouser leg.
Finally, Jared put the hairbrush to one side. He gave Miranda several sharp swats with his hand before stopping. Then, he and his wife comforted the crying Penny before putting her into bed and switching on the delta inducer to put her to sleep.
