Persistence Earns a Chance
The first time he asked, he shocked me to my very core.
To wish for things impossible… broke my heart.
Took three days to piece it together.
Never expected him to ask again… that time it took two.
The third, he pushed and prodded.
The crack of my hand on his face hurt me worse than it could have hurt him.
I tried another tactic for four; he always did as I asked.
Five proved otherwise, six cemented it.
The seventh-- I’d never truly been angry.
Eight, I wished things could be different.
Nine?
Anyone that persistent deserved a chance.
