wow, Quatar! what was that like?

Chicago rules, I just moved there a few weeks ago and, as far as cities go, I'm loving it :)

ps I'm dying to get to more HMS but I'm behind a very weird firewall right now that's been giving me issues with ff.net, go figure! My living/internet situation will hopefully be changing soon though :)

Actually 'Qatar' no u in it. :) The city of Doha is beautiful, but it's very hot and very sandy. Not many trees... and they are palms. I went to a mall in the city itself and that was strange... very european and very clean. The funniest thing was going into the bathroom and seeing the women had western clothing and TONS of makeup on under their robes.

I used to go to Chicago every summer. My grandparents lived in Westmont, and I was usually there about 2 months each summer.

I have been posting HMS here, also. I'm just a few chapters behind here. I like to publish to ff.net first, because I really prefer the organization of it. Today I'll be putting up chapter 13. I solely publish my drabbles on LJ, and I may or may not pot another story here. I get like, two people that regularly read and comment. I'm going to finish it for them, though. :)

oops! force of habit with the u after the q. we all make typos ;D that's so funny about the women in the mall bathroom! I love stuff like that!

I have lots of family in Chi-town too and take lots of trips here, that's cool that you got to have extended stays here :) I really don't like cities, but there's nowhere to get an MFA in the clean mountain air. So if I have to live in a metropolis and can't go to Vancouver, Chicago is where I'd choose to be...so I'm satisfied =) It's crazy though, right now I'm living in a high-rise like 5 blocks from Lake Michigan. I'm looking for an apartment in a neighborhood a few miles north to get away from the extreme cityness.

time for sleep, I've been up for a good 30 hours and have been staring at a screen for the last 16 of those!

Wow! you are well traveled! I envy you! Being an east coaster, we stick mostly to the eastern edges of the country. Family vacations are usually easier if the kids are surrounded by water. Nice but not as exotic as Qatar!

LOL! Well, thank the Air Force for that particular trip. *grins*
