I just ended a phone call with
APC technical support. I had called about the
swollen battery in my UPS. My UPS is no longer under warranty, and I had hoped for a bit of advice.
The agent I talked to knew of the problem with swollen batteries, but said that he couldn't help. It turns out that APC swaps out the unit when this happens; they have no way to get the swollen battery out short of disassembling the device. Since my unit isn't under warranty, that option isn't even open, so the only recourse they can suggest is buying a
new unit.
Try and guess what I did with that "advice". Grrr... All this from the company that sends me weekly catalogs, emails, and account reps who regularly "request me to update their addressbooks". Grr...
