The air conditioner unit in my lab failed
again.
It appears to be the same fault as before: the motor on the exhaust fan has failed, so the compressor is overheating and shuts down.
This time, though, it's not a warranty repair; the warranty expired back in 2004. I've already placed a call to
Windchaser's customer service, explaining that this is not a warranty repair, and I would like to get a quote on the motors.
Hopefully, I'll get a call back. ... sigh ... I need a big, professional unit.
Update (2/1): I've managed to get the suspected motor out of the A/C - what a chore! Took hours (at least I didn't have to deal with
Dave), and I had to disassemble a large part of the unit (the unit was built from the bottom up, so you can't take out the lower motor until you remove the entire upper unit). The motor is very difficult to turn, a definite burn-out. Talked to Windchaser parts dept and emailed them pictures; they're looking for a match.
