The adjunct professor who teaches the other section of Genetics lab just asked me for additional copies of a large, 40-page handout that we xeroxed for the students. As I handed him the stack, he asked "Is that it?" and mentioned that only one person had brought theirs in, and they all needed copies.
I was shocked! I had taught his section last week, and I KNOW I handed out copies to each of the 8 students who were there!
I went into his lab and handed out copies of the 40-page handout to the students that weren't there last week.
The other students who forgot their manuals were sitting there with their hands out, expecting me to give them one. I walked by, to the front of the class, and announced "You don't get duplicates until everyone in the course gets their original copy - and not everyone has! When all the original copies have been distributed, then you can have a duplicate. Remember!! You need to bring your lab manuals with you when you come to lab!"
The students sat there with open mouths. And the chair just backed me up! Cool!
