she discretely slips the gun into her pocket

Okay, so, if I have to read one more so-called professional script written by someone who does not realise that discreet != discrete I am going to scream. (Despite the fact that sometimes it generates hysterical unintentional meanings.)

The sad thing is, this latest script is supposedly about game & number theory as well. Why, why, [name redacted] do you tease me with the phrase 'mystical mathematical synchronicity' and give me ridiculous cliches, a seedy love story, misogynistic dross and not even a remote hint of the numinous? This is perhaps made worse by the fact that I'm reading Umberto Eco's Foucault's Pendulum.

Next post: some personal and political thoughts about the situation in Pakistan, though I'm fast thinking it needs to be even more rapidly followed by a post on the horrific situation in Kolkata. First time ever that India's had to call in the troops to keep order in a major city. And also, how did a farmer's protest turn into communal riots and a call to deport Bangladeshi-Muslim writer Taslima Nasreen (who has long been exiled from Bangladesh for her criticism of Islam) and allegations of some kind of anti-Muslim Marxist plot on the part of the local government? Gah.
