[Personality] Haruhi is a very grounded and practical person. Her mother died when she was young, and her father's a little...out there, so she grew up doing everything that needed to be done, all by herself. She's therefore very independent and used to working for what she wants, instead of throwing money at it like the rest of the host club. This part of her nature can get the better of her, as she sometimes tries to tackle things she can't really deal with all by herself. This includes going after large men because they are threatening helpless girls, without realizing that she's a fairly helpless girl, herself.
Haruhi is also very honest. She says what she thinks. But her comments are often...misinterpreted. She's capable of saying both the perfect thing to make the host club's customers fall in love with her, and the absolute wrong thing to push Tamaki into despair or the twins into a fight. She's known as the "natural type" at the club because she can naturally make people like her, without having to use any techniques. Of course, she also can say things that hurt other people, even if she had no ill intentions. She's pretty good at picking up subtleties in people's personalities, but pretty much fails at figuring out romantic things.
Because of her father (a crossdresser who works at a gay bar), Haruhi is not very gender-conscious. She wasn't trying to be mistaken for a boy her first day at Ouran -- it just happened. She doesn't really care what gender people think of her as, which is why she doesn't mind continuing to pretend that she is a boy. She's also not really very girly, at least in the way the other girls at Ouran are. She doesn't like clothes or shopping for anything except the essentials, she doesn't care about her appearance, and nothing really grosses or freaks her out (except occasionally the host club's antics). The one thing she is afraid of is thunder, which causes her to run for the nearest enclosed space and huddle crying until the storm goes away.
[Abilities] She has COMMON SENSE, which is like a superpower at Ouran. She's good at dealing with spazzy people like Tamaki. She's good at pretending to be a guy. And she's very smart. Other than that, she's a regular human.
[Other important stuff] SHE LIKES FOOD. ESPECIALLY OOTORO.
Also, this is anime!Haruhi, not manga!Haruhi. So she hasn't changed very much from the beginning

My cell phone is making strange noises. At least, I think this is my cell phone, it looks a bit different... And appears to have Tamaki-senpai's face on it, even though I'm sure I never gave him this number. He seems to be screaming for some reason.
