alrighty, here I am, back again. and I'm hot, so hold on whilst I take off my shirt.
Ok, much better.
So, what is new with me you ask? well, my spring break trip to Italy is all planned out, finally! We are totally going to Pisa, Florence, Sienna, Napals, and Rome. in a week. Lots of fun travel time, yay! Good thing that a book that I've been dying to read is coming out the Wendsday before break, otherwise I might hate the buses of Italy...Plus, then I'll get to see my wonderful Michelle who I have been pinning for this semester! hooray!
Speaking of pining lonliness being eased, Katie came up last weekend! It was everything I hoped for and a few things more...like her sharing a bed with me for three whole nights! Mrrrraarr! I have a big double bed, so there was plenty of space to utilize in interesting ways. We went to the London Eye (and it was pretty), Big Ben (which was big and pretty, especially lit up all green as it was at night), the National Gallary (filled with pretty pictures, especially the ones made by various famous people. Yay famous people!), the British Museum (filled with pretty stolen goods from the colonial conquests, I mean, prety "liberated" or "saved" goods), the Tower of London (within which we saw pretty crown jewels and Spanish armor, and not so pretty ravens which threated to peck my eyes out whilst croaking "You're a whore!")and a fun club (in which we were pretty, and damn hot) where we danced, drank, and Katie got hit on by a Brazilian man. They spoke sweet words of Spanish love to each other before Katie ran away with me. I wish she could have stayed longer, but we made the most of her short visit. Mayhap I can convince her to come back when the entire crew is in London...appetizing idea.
Gossip! ok, apparently within the past month, one person in my program got arrested for the posession of child pornography and one died, and they were rooming together, which makes it doubly odd. The potential child molester had over 100 files stored on his computer, which he was proudly showing off to all of his roomates who ended up reporting the sick fuck to the British cops (or, the fuzz as they are called here) who came in and confiscated his computer and will probably ship him off to the Americas as soon as possible, but for now he is living in a hostel and still going to classes with the rest of us, which makes things awkward let me tell you. Especially in the European media class where apparently the teacher decided to tease him about it. The professor was talking about nudity in cinemas, and turned to Ian (the wacko who likes naked children) and said something like "But we all have a dirty daddy inside us, don't you think so Ian?" Oh my. Things got uncomfortable real quick. The girl who died was named Cassandra. She was in my Drama and the London Theatre class, but I didn't really know her well. Apparently, she went to Amsterdam two weekends ago and had a good not so illegal time, then in the airport she had a heart attack and died. She had a weak heart since birth and was taking medicine, but from all accounts she was doing fine until then. No one really knew how to handle it or references to her. I looked her up on facebook to place her face, and I noticed that many of her friends and family had posted messages to her on her wall after they found out she had died. Which unnerved me a bit, I won't lie. I feel bad for her roomies. Not only did they have to turn thier friend in for his sinful passions, but now their other friend died. Very upsetting, plus, now how are they going to pay the rent?
On to more uplifting topics. I went to Bath and Stonehenge this weekend! Stony was cool, I took lots of pics and bought fun souviners, and Bath was a fun little town filled with Roman ruins and Romanesk architecture and street performers. Juggling fire is always entertianing, especially when on a unicycle! Is it wrong of me to have, just slightly mind you, a passing thought no more, wanted the guy to miss and set one of the crowd members on fire? None of the children, but perhaps a preppy girl or sour-looking old man. He was right next to the Roman baths, so it would have been easy to put out...anyway, it was fun. I learned about Roman ideals of cleanliness, and holiness, and the mineral water there actually tasted kinda good, although it didn't cure me of my cold. Maybe I didn't pray to Minerva hard enough...
Ummmm...that is mostly it on the exciting places I went to. I've been going to various plays and museums in london, mostly for class. I really liked Taming of the Shrew which was performed by an all male cast who didn't bother to hide the fact that they were male. They wore dresses and jewlry and makeup, but no wig and no attempts to make their figures more...womanly. I mean there was no curve action going on at all. It was modern dress, which was fun becuase that meant Kate was turned into an angsty goth chick, which is always fun to watch get broken into domesticity. heheheeh. I'm in an evil mood today I suppose...
Well, I think that is a long enough entry for now. I'll update again. possibly even within this month, but don't get your hopes up too high. I am, after all, Amanda Stricker, and I will never bow down to the will of the internet! Mostly cuase it hates me, even when I am nice to it. Is it wierd that I still feel the need to sign these? I feel like I'm writing a letter...
Sincerly,
Amanda Stricker
