So, once again I didn't update for months. Silly me. Just a quick one right now, because I'm off to lunch, and since I haven't eaten breakfast yet today, I REALLY want lunch.
So I'm at my "Using Technology in the Classroom" class, which reminded me of livejournal, which is why I'm updating now. Hehe. Anyway, the class is good and useful, and the professor is AWESOME! The only problem = I'm sitting at a computer, with internet (non-blocked internet) access, and asked to pay attention for three hours. So...many...distracting...possibilities! The class is also overwhelming because it reminds me of all these OTHER things I need to consider and include in my classroom next year. So much work ahead of me. Le sigh. Oh well, if I keep on task and work at least 2 hours a day on preparing my teaching / classroom or professionally developming myself, I think I will be okay come August.
I'm going out to lunch with Abdulah, the fellow I've been dating for the past two months or so. I don't know if it is anything serious or long term, but I like him and he is fun to hang out with. He is from Saudi Arabia and is possibly 28 (there is some confusion on my part abuot his age. He SAYS he is 28, but I heard from the person who introduced me that he was 32 or something. Oh well, I don't really care at this point). He is divorced (it was an arranged marriage which REALLY didn't work out), and has two kids in Saudi Arabia. He is studying electrical engenieering at IUPUI.
Then I'm going to my new apartment to unpack stuff. I HAVE SO MUCH CRAP! WHY??!??! Anyway, I am mostly moved in, and my apartment mates and I (Abbie, Nick, Beth) worked out a cleaning schedule that includes dishes / kitchen duty daily, and I think it will work out (cross my heart, hope to not live in filth. I like all my apartment mates, they are cooler than those polar bears in the coke commercials, and I intend to introduce Beth to many, many good movies.
Then I'm going to work. Yes, I'm back at the Indianapolis Marian County Public Library for the summer since I don't get paid from Indidanapolis Public Schools for six weeks. Since we are switching from a year round school year to traditional, last year's contract ends before this next year's begins. So: the gap equals about six weeks, and I want to pay rent, student loans, and car payments without trouble. Thus: summer job. I like the work, it is easy, and I get to practice my important life skill: juggling. Whenever there is nothing to do, I juggle the prizes. Yes, Juggling is a life skill. Let's say I lose my teaching career because I definistrated a student, and no one will hire me for anything. My life skill of juggling will SAVE THE DAY!
Or, lets say I'm walking along and I hear children crying: Oh, little children, whatever is the matter? Why, kind lady, it is little Jimmy's birthday, and we have no one to entertain us. Did your parents not get you a clown, or a llama? Nay, caring stranger, they did not, for they do not love us. Never fear the evil reaches of unloved bordom, my darling little tots, for I, and my life skill of juggling, am hear to save the day.
Yes, that is exactly how it will happen. And then they will look back on Jimmy's birthday and say, truly, the fun was corntagious.
