Even though they’re AUs, I tried to keep some essence of Dorian’s personality constant. I didn’t want to write him completely OOC - but I’m not sure how well I’ve done that.
In 1, 3 and 4, I was trying to look at how Dorian adapted to different life circumstances - making the same mistakes his father made, dealing with sexual temptation where it can affect his career, being pragmatic about the family’s loss of status.
The empty headed Dorian in 2 is the most un-Dorian-like version. Above all, I think of Dorian as being smart, and in this story he’s not. (Thought there might be some back-story there about how come he has given up being an active shaper of his own life. Yeah, I know: I’m overthinking it again.) I had my own squee-moment while I was writing this one, when I realised just what Don Volovolonte was up to, and that he’d got James over a barrel.
Of the five, I think the fifth one works best. It has shape and structure. And it has Klaus :) Also, I don’t find it easy to write humour, so I was really pleased with the way this one turned out.
Klaus has been nice to me this week. Bishop von dem Eberbach was such fun to write. I'm glad you enjoyed that story.
