Five Canon Things about Major Klaus Heinz von dem Eberbach
1) The Major doesn’t know how he feels about Eroica 90 percent of the time. He doesn’t know that he doesn’t know how he feels about Eroica. A lot of the times, he’s angry at him. But there come the private times when a heat rises in his face, and his hands shake at an unbidden image. It feels a lot like anger- only a tad more uncontrolled- and Klaus is happy to leave it at that.
2) The Major really, really wishes that Eroica would stop baiting him. More importantly, he wishes that Eroica would stop baiting him to get a specific response. Because when he told Klaus exactly what his swears could be taken for in the literal sense of the word, Klaus’s ears burned for a good ten minutes.
3) Klaus never had a favourite colour. Brown and black were always a safe choice for a suit; sometimes green, if the day were particularly bright, or if the KGB had been particularly stupid. But in the dead of winter, when the sky was grey and the streets were slushy, and there was no flash of blonde to catch one’s eye, Klaus decided that his favourite colour was blue.
4) Klaus is very uptight. Anyone in NATO can tell you that. But you need a trained specialist with very good eyesight and a death wish to tell you that the Major’s posture relaxes when he is with Eroica, and that sometimes, the curl of his lip that is meant to be a snarl looks suspiciously like a smile.
5) Klaus has always thought that kissing was unsanitary. Saliva, an exchange of germs- sometimes there was even blood- nothing like that could be hygienic. But when Eroica turned his brilliant blue eyes up to Klaus, and gently placed a chaste kiss on his lips, all thoughts of germs and viruses flew out of Klaus’s head. He could only think of kissing back.
