high in the sky

I had a few hours in London to kill and Justin and I decided to check out the London Eye, since it finally opened back up for business. We walked across the river and are confronted with mass confusion and many different queues. We decide to take action, and pretend its the Amazing Race. A road block.

Rather than look like stupid tourists, gawking around and looking confused, we started walking. We found a cafe, which was adorable, and a gift shop, which was too rich for our blood, and finally, the giant ticket building. The queue to get a ticket was obscene... we almost gave up. And then, we saw it:

Web and Telephone Ticket Pick-Up.

No line.

We grab a brochure from the information kiosk, and find a telephone number. Justin digs out his cell phone (which I find strange to have, since who are you honestly going to call when everyone you know lives at the Castle?) and we charge the tickets to his Mastercard in a matter of minutes. We walk a few feet, touch a few buttons, and tada-- tickets! The queue behind us had barely moved an inch.

We walk over to the eye just before the 11:00 ride, a quick security check and we're on.

If it had really been Amazing Race, we were SO in first place and well on our way to the pit stop. We'd have been on the first flight to Hong Kong, you know?

The rest of the day was lackluster in comparison to that excitement, but I feel bad for saying it. I *did* go see freakin' Macbeth! :P

Anyhow, I took way too many pictures. It was a clear day, hurrah!
