Or they are different depending on Het/Slash, because I can swear that whenever I read a fic that's rated "R" I expect some naughty stuff (I only read het). Obviosuly, as I haven't read your story, I simply saw "R" and thought it would be NC-17.
I'll change it right, now. Thanks for letting me know.
Worst part about this? coffee_buddha told me this last week and I FORGOT our conversation was about fics rated "R" versus "NC-17". I do this stuff so fast that I guess I don't have time to think about what I'm writing.
Don't get me wrong, I love this newsletter, and appreciate the work that goes into it. To be fair, with all the rating systems out there (MA, FRAO, NC-17, etc.) it's probably easy to get things confused when you have to deal with so many other things at a time.
I think the big deal that coffeebuddha and I have is that R and NC-17 are different ratings on the same scale (MPAA), as opposed to being similar ratings on two different scales (like M or MA which are their respective equivalents on FF.net, for example) that needs to be "converted" from what we've already placed in our summaries for the fic.
