offerings on a spring day

this morning i walked out of my apartment into sunshine to find this offering sitting on my mailbox

very very nice. thank you todd.

so i decided i would offer something that i've been enjoying to you all. this is a 26 mb movie of a very young Roky Erikson and the 13th Floor Elevators performing "You're Gonna Miss Me," poolside, on Dick Clark's "Where the Action Is" in 1966. I got this clip from Sonic Pollutions, which is a pretty great site for old ('65-'72) televised music performances (e.g., the kinks, pink floyd, the pretty things, jimi hendrix, the byrds...), with a lot of interesting and informative text accompanying the clips. This one includes a short summary of Erikson's unfortunate life and the band in general.

someone needs to learn how to play the jug like that and show me (i realize the actual music is pre-recorded, but you get the idea). i've tried, but it always just sounds like a drum.

(click on the photo for the movie... and let it load before you try to watch it) enjoy!!

{i also had the most fun in new york city this past weekend. maybe i will write about that later.}

today was the first day this year i rode my bike to work!
happy warm.

love, michelle
