Castle didn’t tick into her life.

While some men whispered into Beckett’s time, stealing moments, wasting minutes, Richard Castle fobbed days. She was aware of how much he’d demand from the second he entered the precinct, so Kate ensured she kept the Beckett trinity close to her vest in an attempt to keep him at a distance.

This was pure genius. The genius did continue, but I figured I'd stop before I quoted everything. You've worked in the metaphor so subtly. It's brilliant. The way you analyse each relationship within it is ... I am quite speechless.

My one question (and this is such a nitpick, so feel free to slap me) is, I'm wondering about the timeline of the shower bit? Because after the Dunn case, Beckett was staying with Castle, at least temporarily. (I know we don't see her at the loft more than once, but obviously finding an apartment does take time... anyway. I can see it working, but I was just interested to know if you'd thought about it. Is it meant to happen before the explosion? Thus before pancakes ( ... )

I saw the shower bit as the scene immeddiately preceding the explosion - the looooong shower that was interrupted by Castle's call to warn her that the dead guy was a patsy. So it happened after pancakes and before she was living with him at the loft - when they thought the case was closed, because they had fallen for Dunn's fake murderer plan.

Of course, I could be wrong, LOL.

Your recollection of the time line matches mine. There were two breakfast bits in that two-parter: one at her (about to be blown up) apartment before they figured out who (they thought) was the bad-guy. Castle was being her "protector" and his production of pancakes were interrupted by the finding of a body on her doorstep. The second one was at the loft, post explosion where Beckett made eggs and bacon and they were interrupted by a call about Shaw being missing.

That's exactly it! A dual-breakfast situation. It's thrown me out of kilter.

BTW, do you know the latest spoilers? Don't bother searching for them if you don't, but I reckon the Captain will be a bright light of S4

That final statement is either very positive or a damning indictment of what is to come. I've run across the promo from ABC so far, but otherwise have stayed pretty free of spoilers on what S4 might bring. So, should I be looking forward to the new Captain or start looking for a new TV obsession?

Hmm. Best to stay completely spoiler free at this stage, ma'am. I will do my best to protect you from my further probing questions.

Let's look forward to the new captain together. That's going to be ace, I think.

No need for you to try to spare me from temptation - my willpower is such that external temptation & related stimulous aren't really an issue. Too many years of dealing with little boys who tried to torture me with comments like "i've got a secret". I'm sort of immune. So i will not freak out at the suggestion of a hint of an iota of future plot.

I will be in Mexico City or business on premiere night - hope the Four Seasons TV system gets ABC or i will be whiny for months!

Good to know your stance on not freaking re spoilers. I'm a bit the same. Some people are 'whores', some are 'phobes' ... perhaps we need another category?

spoilerblasés? Indifferents?

I want to join, ploise.

Hope you'll get to see the premiere in your Four Seasons, for goodness sake! You could call ahead, ask if they have ABC, then if not, book somewhere else.

Better yet, refuse to go on the business trip *g*

I won't slap ya unless ya want it ; )

/inappropriateness, although it WAS fun while it lasted, hey?

Thanks for the words re metaphor. Sometimes it feels overdone a bit, so I'm glad this section was fairly subtle. I'm all about the subtle *g*

TBH, I'm not great with timelines or canon sometimes, but I reckon we might have a different time here. I'm thinking more about the time before she stays in Castle's loft, just as her apartment is about to blow up (so she THINKS the Dunn case is over, but she's about to get asploded ( ... )

Hah. I'm always up for a slap/inappropriate joke.

You are right and I am wrong. Slap deserved. Castle definitely did stay over before that, the timeline was just all mixed up in my head.

And yes, the metaphor was incredibly well executed. It wins best metaphor in show.

Oh. I never win ANYTHING! Thank you. Does it come with a dog? Love me a 'best in show'.
